Job offered: Senior Systems Developer (Learning, Teaching and Research)

1.0 FTE – 37 Hours per week. 

The Library, Technology and Information (LTI) Service are seeking to appoint a Senior System Developer (Learning, Teaching and Research) to lead the coherent development of the key learning, teaching and research systems in use by the University. This includes the virtual learning environment, related systems to store learning and teaching content (including media and library resources) and associated links to systems important to the student’s academic process (such as comparison checking and portfolio management).

A key element of the role is to work in partnership with Academic Development Unit (ADU) to ensure the systems support enhancements to the University’s academic practice.

As part of a team that work to Agile principles, you will be involved in an exciting range of developments that form part of our Technology to Enhanced Learning programme.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop MOODLE and other systems in a supportive environment, working alongside a great team of committed individuals.

You will be an adaptable and proactive individual, with experience in php and a range of application development methods. A track record in delivering application developments to time is important, as is keeping up to date with latest technologies and regulations such as GDPR and Accessibility.

The work will be varied; you will work on a multitude of different projects and you will have a commitment to keeping abreast of relevant pedagogic developments relevant to technology-enhanced learning.

Key Skills:

VLE and PHP - Experience and evidence of working with MOODLE VLE

Technical Skills – PHP, MySql and API experience

Communication – You will need to demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly with both technical specialists and non-technical business leads

Teamwork -The Application Development and Support (ADS) team supports and develops several core business systems such as student systems, data systems and ERP systems. You will be working with system developers in these disciplines to ensure seamless integrations
