Lambda Solutions is seeking applications from qualified professionals for the position of Instructional Designer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of the instructional design plans and for the development of online course material. Working with a multi-disciplinary project team, the Instructional Designer will provide leadership and direction of the projects to ensure successful roll-out of projects within timelines, policy guidelines and quality standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Conducting needs assessments, performance analyses, and cause analyses
· Perform job task analysis, and specifying performance, education, and learning objectives
· Define learner characteristics
· Perform instructional and learning path analysis
· Prepare learning assessment instruments
· Identifying instructional and blended learning strategies
· Specifying instructional strategies, learning content and lesson guidance
· Produce lesson guidance documentation (design guidance documents and scripted storyboards)
· Identify training and performance requirements and determine sources of learning materials
· Develop style guides
· Conduct beta testing and formative evaluations of Learning instructional material to ensure compliance with specified standards and client requirements
· Prepare instructors for the use of Learning instructional materials into training programs
· Demonstrate an ability to grasp technical content
· Communicate effectively by visual, oral, and written form with individuals, small group, and in front of large audiences
Work Experience, Education and Competencies
- A degree preferably in educational psychology, educational technology, distance education or a related field
- A minimum of five years experience in designing and delivering online courses;
- Experience working with teams of technical professionals
- Experience working with subject-matter-experts
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Demonstrated writing and editing skills
- Interact effectively with other people
- Establish rapport with individuals and groups
- Ask questions, explain information, listen
- Deal with impediments to progress among members of a group (friction, resistance)
- Demonstrate good work habits
- Demonstrate organizational skills and time management abilities
- Demonstrate flexibility and problem solving abilities
- Proficient with Adobe Design Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, or Raptivity
- Experience working with leaning management systems (e.g., Moodle) is an asset.
