The UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education offers post-graduate education in Delft, The Netherlands, and carries out research and capacity building projects all over the world. The mission of UNESCO-IHE is to contribute to the education and training of professionals and to build the capacity of sector organisations, knowledge centres and other institutions active in the fields of water, the environment and infrastructure in developing countries and countries in transition.

 

UNESCO-IHE has a permanent staff of 180, of which 90 are scientific staff, while about 250 guest-lecturers from academia and industry contribute to the educational programme. Each year 750 participants (incl. about 200 new MSc students per year) from all over the world attend the various regular and short courses at UNESCO-IHE.

 

UNESCO-IHE is embedding a new virtual learning environment (Moodle) to support its internal and international water education: eCampus. We are looking for an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial and experienced

Moodle and e-Learning Advisor (m/f) - 0,8 FTE

 

who will be leading this process in close cooperation with Education and ICT. This senior position will become part of a new formed Educational Bureau.

 

Main tasks

·       Responsible for a project-based enrollment of Moodle through all relevant educational activities

·       Responsible for the quality assurance system of our on-line educational services

·       To provide training to individual and groups of faculty members with respect to learning the feature set of Moodle

·       Advising and supporting academic departments on curriculum and educational technologies

·       Contributing to the expansion of web based international water education services from a life-long learning perspective

·       Contributing to the integration of Moodle in the institute's administration and support infrastructure

 

Requirements

·       Graduated or Postgraduate degree in instructional systems, e-didactics, curriculum development (with a focus on technology integration into the learning environment) and/or water education

·       In-depth knowledge of and practical experience in the use of the Moodle VLE (including third-party plug-ins, ability to integrate various forms of media into Moodle web pages, etc.)

·       Experienced as a staff trainer, educator or coach, particularly with respect to e-Learning systems and learning design, preferably in an academic, educational environment

·       Project management experience

·       Excellent communications skills both oral and written

·       Excellent customer care abilities

·       Result and quality oriented

·       Good knowledge of the English Language, both spoken and written

 

Conditions

This position is, in principle, a permanent one, however, according to our Personnel Manual, the first contract is for 2 years, and only after this period a permanent contract can be offered. The position is based in Delft, The Netherlands. A competitive salary is offered depending on qualifications and experience in accordance with the conditions of employment for Dutch Universities. The appointment implies entry into the Netherlands' Civil Service Pension Fund (ABP).
