Job offered: Lead Moodle Developer

The UCLA Common Collaboration and Learning Environment (CCLE) supports instruction and research for faculty, students and staff. The CCLE is based on Moodle 1.9.8 and is in the process of migrating to Moodle 2.1. CCLE is a network of both local and shared Moodle server installations supporting over 23,000 users across the entire campus.

The CCLE Lead Developer will serve as the technical lead and expert for all technical aspects of CCLE. The CCLE Lead Developer will develop and maintain a technical mastery of all the inner-workings of the CCLE, with primary responsibility for programming and security, campus systems integration and maintenance for the mission-critical shared CCLE system. This is a leadership position that will require excellent communication skills and the ability and patience to develop and mentor small teams of developers. The CCLE Lead Developer will report to the CCLE Coordinator and will receive overall direction from the Standards and Practices Group (S&PG).  

Core requirements include:

  • Demonstrated expert level knowledge of current and emerging technologies including, but not limited to: PHP 4, PHP 5, MySQL, web services, Linux, Apache, JavaScript, CVS, SVN and Git. Experience with Jira and Crucible is a plus.

 

  • Demonstrated skill in technical staff coordination, including promoting teamwork and cross-campus cooperation, delegating responsibility, development, motivation, training, monitoring progress, evaluating performance, and giving constructive feedback as necessary.

Salary range:  $65,572 - $118,092/yr
