Summary
The Technology department is recruiting for an experienced product manager to serve as a Moodle web application product expert combining development knowledge, industry expertise and web delivery leadership. The role defines and executes a web application product vision and roadmap that delivers best in class solutions for the online education industry.
Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Lead the full product development lifecycle including requirements management, design, build and release management
- Drive a prioritized solution set based on detailed, iterative discussions with internal stakeholders and external clients that results in a shared understanding of client needs, costs to develop and trade-offs, resulting in a feature set with the highest value
- Gather and analyze feedback from internal and external constituencies with a focus on continuous improvement to incorporate into a product roadmap
- Define requirements for current and future technology investment by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to current clients
- Work alongside the engineering team to set development priorities, define and implement a product roadmap through initial launch and subsequent releases
- Develop end-to-end test plans, document test cases and facilitate user acceptance testing to ensure planned changes meet business requirements while maintaining system integrity and reliability
- Serve as an internal and external evangelist for your product offering
- Manage focus groups to gather usage metrics and usability experience
- Communicate and publish product updates to facilitate internal and external awareness
- Create and communicate vision for assigned product across the team and the organization
- Research reported issues with systems and processes and translate into enhancement requests
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required, preferably in a technology or business related discipline
- 8+ years leading web initiatives demonstrating expertise in requirements management, web development, usability engineering, information architecture and project management
- Experience with systems development lifecycle and system management processes, including requirements management, design, configuration and user acceptance testing
- Proven experience developing web technology roadmaps and presenting to internal stakeholders and external clients
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, building consensus among diverse teams of peers, subject matter experts and senior management
- Experience leading projects and managing technology partner relationships
- Excellent facilitation, presentation and communication skills
- Exceptional organization, problem solving and analytical skills
- Experience in an Agile development environment preferred
- Self-motivated, able to effectively deal with a certain degree of autonomy and capable of making sound business decisions
- Experience with higher education technology preferred
- Experience leading web integration projects leveraging open source developments preferred
- This position requires up to 20% travel
