The CIPD Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Team is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the CIPD learning management system (LMS) which delivers CIPD courses to over 20,000 students worldwide! 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced learning technologist to join the VLE team and inform the development of operational and pedagogical content of CIPD’s LMS and associated technologies. As the Learning Technologist – Development you will -

 Have sound instructional design and pedagogical knowledge

  • Encourage tutor engagement (and ultimately that of the students) by developing the tutors help area.
  • Develop training plans and appropriate learning materials for internal and external user groups.
  • Provide technical support of the maintenance of the VLE, answering and resolving queries.
  • Continuously research and recommend new e-learning technologies/practices and ways they can be implemented to improve our offering for the student learning experience.
  • Contribute to the learning technologies strategy, in order to enable the CIPD to offer leading edge online qualification and CPD areas.
  • Have an appreciation of and commitment to adhering to best practice in online user experience.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll be an experienced learning technologist with the following experience:

 •     Instructional design capabilities

•     Strong pedagogical knowledge

•     Back-end user of Moodle (or other VLE)

•     Technical competence in HTML

•     Strong technical and process knowledge

•     Understanding and commitment to providing the best online user experience

•     Familiarity with data protection/copyright issues.

•     Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate technical and pedagogical concepts to others

•     Mahara or other e-portfolio tool

•     E-learning authoring tools, e.g. Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.
