The class also is using an online program called Moodle, which provides a framework to set up a virtual online class.

"It's a great way to extend your in-class curriculum," says social studies teacher, Elaine Hess.

With Moodle, the class can conduct online discussion forums that keep conversations going after class is dismissed. It even gives students who are normally shy during class the opportunity to participate in a format with which they are more comfortable.
