Dear mobile moodle community members
The members of the moodbile and moodle4iphone have agreed to collaborate and build the new project "moodle2mobile" (M2M)
- The aim of this project is: To create a open source add on for Moodle that allows to access the services of Moodle from Mobile devices (of different kinds)
- M2M has to be fairly easy to install, and safe in a way that does not overwrite files contained the Moodle.org official release. so Administrators can update their sites without worrying.
We would also open the discussion on issues of mobile learning activities and issues related to generate mobile contents.
We hope to cover as many existing mobile systems to meet the high expectations worldwide.
Our team already has several volunteers in different parts of the world.

Hi there,
I'd like to say a few words about our architectural approach.
Every day appears a new Mobile iniciative for Moodle. there is sure market and talent to do so. So, what makes M2M different ?
We aim to design a solution that sets up an architecture that allows many mobile solutions to be built upon, in a way that moves along the Moodle development and can be distributed to any installation.
This architecture is based on tree parts:
* Moodle 2.0 Webservices : The Moodle 2.0 Webservices allow a secure and scalable way to turn Moodle into a bundle of services that can be consumed from any device. This is the base of the Moodbile project http://code.google.com/p/moodbile where a HTML 5 Mobile friendly client connects to Moodle 2.0 webservices. It works, and in a few days we will make available the online demo. Moodbile webservices are not opensourced yet, but if any of you whishes to look at them please contact me.
* Mobile friendly Theme: The Moodle4iPhone project where Carlos and Julian and others have done a great job allows Moodle to be experiencied with joy in a Mobile Webkit based browser. Moodle has zilions of features and not all of them can (or need to) be turned on services to be consumed by apps. We need to extend the functionalities of the mobile theme, and bind together apps and the mobile version to make a complete experience. (There is also the possibility to spread a few xml tags on the theme so mobile apps can do some scrapping and get more data without coding so much webservices... dirty but I've seen it working on an ipad project, so, we can look into it)
* Open sourced Mobile Apps. For webkit mobile browser (moodbile), and native ones for iPhone, Anddroid or other fancy platforms to come. All of them connected to the very same set of webservices.
