Intergration with Captivate??

Intergration with Captivate??

Forgive me if this is not in the right forum. I am a newbie, and sure this has probably been asked before. I am looking to create some online classes for a non-profit. I have Captivate, and was looking for a way to do a self-paced learning course online. I looked into Adobe Connect, and it was a tad bit too expensive.

So my question...will Captivate work with this Moodle?

J McCarthy - yes Captivate can integrate with Moodle using SCORM. We are investigating using this combination in our corporate setting and the first test we ran (a simple quiz done within Captivate) shows that the data does transfer across to Moodle. (Note: I've blogged a little bit about Moodle here)

Our plan is to use Captivate mostly for the software simulations and screen recordings. We will on occasion create quizzes and other types of evaluations within Captivate and pass the data to Moodle via SCORM. For the most part we will use Moodle's Quiz module, which is quite powerful (I love the ability to create question pools). Another way we will use Captivate is to convert PowerPoint presentations into SFW files, but there are other products which will do this better (Adobe Presenter is one).

I hope you don't think, like I did, that Captivate can be a "one stop shop" for your e-learning needs. It can't. But it is still a powerful combination: Moodle + Captivate.

Also, just because Moodle is open source and "free" doesn't mean it doesn't "cost" you anything. There is still a cost associated with using Moodle. You still need to host it (either on the web or internally); you still need to support it; you still need IT maintenance on it. But the great thing about it (I think) is the power of this application, combined with the wonderful spirit of open source community.

Purchase support from a Moodle Partner (we are going to do this soon at my organization). Join the forums and ask away. Good luck!

Hello Richard,

I am new in the LMS world and I am in the process of evaluating using Captivate as the training material creation software and Moodle as the back-end quiz result retention software.  I have been looking at other LMSs like Blackboard, eLearning, etc.  All the fee based LMS packages tell me they have analytics.  I tried looking for Moodle supplied analytics information with no luck.  I would really appreciate an answer to this.  I just want to compare apples to apples with all these LMSs' features so I can present it to management.  Thanks for any help you can provide.
