Can I get a ballpark status update on these updates. I put off creating any new themes for 2.0 until everything was solid again. I'm not a programmer, but would love to help. Is there any HTML/CSS work or testing I can do?

Very straight-forward indeed. At first, when I saw this in my feed reader, I thought "oh no, we don't need another Chameleon." But, this is something quite different indeed. Would settings such as this be available to the admin through the admin menu?
My only fear would be a future unknown conflict in javascript.

Serenity has a stylesheet called styles_serenity.css containing the following declaration:
#content {
padding-top:4px;
font-size: 0.9em;
}
Change that font-size to something larger (like 1em) to increase the font size of the entire theme.
There are also a few more specific font-size declarations in that document that you may want to search for and increase also.

Hi Julius,
I edited your post just now to remove all of the jumbled nonsense that I'm guessing was placed there when you cut and pasted text from a word document, into the text editor. Please tell us what your problem is directly, by typing it into the text editor, and I'm sure someone has experienced a similar problem and will be able to help you out.

I haven't had a chance to play with it much, but I went to your demo and it looks great. Good use of the Custom Corners engine.
