Thank you Nave,
It might be quite possible that this mistake was mine. I'm not very confident with the code just yet, but I'm getting there.
I'll have a look at it this evening.

Well, it is a bit more complex. But, I think once we all get the hang of things, we'll be grateful for the higher degree of possibility. For example, you don't have to include the extension in an image file path because it doesn't matter. By my understanding, Moodle will automatically grab any file by that name in the pix directory. What it will do when two files of the same name with different extensions exist, I don't yet know. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.
Regarding the first issue, have you set your theme to "Designer Mode" on the "Theme Settings" admin page? Moodle could be caching your CSS. Not sure.
Once I get a better grasp on things, I'll try to be more helpful. For now, though, I'm just getting a feel for these new layout templates.
Also, have you seen these two documents:
http://docs.moodle.org/en/Development:Themes_2.0
http://docs.moodle.org/en/Development:Themes_2.0_creating_your_first_theme
Very helpful for me so far.

Hi Mary,
Unfortunately, I'm of little help as I did not have a hand in coding Anomaly for 2.0. If you want to build a theme off Anomaly, I suggest duplicating Standard, ripping out anything unnecessary, then adding Anomaly and Base as parent themes.

I'm continuing my work on 2.0 themes and I see that icons for courses and activities have been added to the navigation breadcrumb. Can someone please explain why these have been put there? I find them to be an unnecessary distraction and will probably hide them using CSS if they stick around.
This is exactly what I thought the new Theme Settings option linked below was all about. I like to create themes will multiple color options. The way this would be most beneficial is to have a settings page in the UI that allows users to select their color.
