Moodle in English -> Themes -> New Theme - Autumn -> Re: New Theme - Autumn

Thanks Mauno,

$%^!@# IE7!!! I have yet to test in IE7 actually - my Dell took a dump last week and I have yet to install Windows on my Intel Mac (reluctant to do so actually!)

I'll look into it. That looks pretty bad. If someone can help me out with a diagnosis, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for picking up the missing "#" - I have fixed it in both my demo theme and my .zip file (linked above).

Moodle in English -> Themes -> New Theme - Autumn

autumnI spent my Sunday doing something I've wanted to do for a while - I developed a 3-column, fluid-width Moodle theme that I can actually stand to look at!

Ever since creating my first theme last year, I have wanted to make a theme that I could share (I couldn't share the last one in lieu of the fact that the background images were purchased from Joomlashack).

I developed this theme on my 1.7.1 installation. Nevertheless, I think that the standard theme I started from was 1.8. You will have to tell me how well that works out for you!

I will upload this to the themes repository soon (my wife wants me to run some errands first!).

Until then, feel free to:

Since I am unable to discern what it is you've already attempted and don't know what you're actually trying to do, let me tell you how I go about a new theme.

I start with the "Standard" theme (../moodle/theme/standard). I copy it, then change the name of that new "Standard" file to reflect my new theme (ex: "newtheme"). That new theme that I created will contain everything needed within it (header.html, footer.html, all css files, etc.). I change those files, then I upload it to my theme directory.

I wouldn't try to do anything too fancy - Moodle CSS is vast and necessary. If you start hacking, you may not stop!

If this is the site you're talking about (found through your profile), it appears to be not loading your css properly. I would try upgrading your installation to a more recent version. This would rule out compatibility issues between your theme and installation.
It is possible to have a custom theme for your course. See documentation at link below:

http://docs.moodle.org/en/Theme_config#Theme_types

To the best of my knowledge, a course can only use a theme installed in the main directory. However, there is nothing stopping your site admin from uploading your desired theme that you can then choose for your individual course.

So, in short, it is not possible to install a theme in your specific course's file system.
