Thanks again, this is useful information to know. I am unable to proceed further as I am dependent on the hosting company to update the Moodle instances on the server. Once this occurs I will attempt to network the Moodles and will post any useful info / help on here in the context of someone who is new to Moodle and not experienced with server side issues.

Hi Heather,
Many thanks for your helpful reply. It would be helpful to new users such as myself if the interface language matched the Moodle documentation. Possibly it is my ignorance as well as the slightly ambiguous language though! I was thinking you could interpret a sub domain as being a subset or part of a domain. Maybe it is clearer to use the word 'website'.
Anyway that helps narrow down what may be causing the current Moodle Networking problems I am attempting to address.
My next step is to upgrade all the Moodle instances from 1.8 to 1.92 weekly build and then to step through the process of networking again as I was not the person who first tried to set up the Moodle Network.
Good luck with your public key issue (way beyond my current level of knowledge!!!)
Thanks again

Hi,
I am very new to Moodle and Moodle networking so forgive me if this is a very basic question!
I am trying to troubleshoot an issue with a Moodle network not working. I am following the steps on the Moodle Network documentation for setting up a Peer to Peer Network. Step 1.2 states:
If MoodleA and MoodleB are hosted in the same domain, ensure they have a different cookie prefix.
There are 6 Moodle instances all on the same server. The domain name of the most developed Moodle is:
The other Moodle instances are:
http://dorset.rrsa.org.uk/
http://hampshire.rrsa.org.uk
http://rochdale.rrsa.org.uk
http://durham.rrsa.org.uk
http://bracknell.rrsa.org.uk
So I guess this means that these five Moodles are sub-domains. I have two questions:
1) If the above 5 Moodles are sub-domains does this still mean that all the Moodles count as being hosted in the same domain and therefore I must setup the different cookie prefixes? (currently the cookie prefixes have not been setup).
2) Will all 6 Moodle instances need different cookie prefixes?
A simple yes or no response would be helfpul : )
Many thanks
