...it is a good idea to record some silence after you have finished reading (i.e. make the file longer), because over slower connections sometimes sound files do not load in their entirety and may be cut short.

If your multimedia filter is turned on, you can just upload your sound file and link to it inside your quiz. Moodle will create a Flash player for each link to a sound file.

At the top of each resource, you should see a log icon. It will give you information about that resource only. I think that's what you are asking about.
