Hi, Ian,
They might not exist yet: Ralf and I talked about working on those for Dariem, but we never got started.

Careful there. Uploading over the old directory can lead to problems, Clark. At least it has in the past.
You know, when want to install a new component, module or template to Joomla, I just go to the installer page and upload the zipped file to the server and Joomla extracts it and installs it for me. Maybe that would be something that could be developed for Moodle.
That might be cool.

Valid, John, but maybe a group of Moodlers will work on that. And where there is a will, there is a way! Depends who jumps on the bandwagon, no? Have to wait and see if anyone wants to take it on.
As a matter of fact, we still use 1.6.x at Aiken High School because of this issue. And, of course, some third party mods seem to break backups. That is frightening.
In the end, some non-standard mods are worth it to us. We are heavy users, for example, of the book and feedback mods.
Wonder if anyone else has any ideas about this.

Hi, Clark,
That's a pretty cool idea. You might even want to post it to the tracker at http://tracker.moodle.org/. Maybe some folks will vote for it.
Regards,
Art
