Newbie trying to review Actual Moodle Courses

I just discovered Moodle a couple of days ago and I am trying to determine if this is the sort of framework I want to use.  I have been looking for sample moodle sites to see what is possible.  I have gone through dozens of samples starting at:
http://moodle.org/sites/

but every time I have run into one of two problems:
- I cannot login (after filling in a complete registration, a key-code is requested)
- I can login as a guest but the courses cannot be viewed by guests

It seems to me that these site listings are no more than advertising since you cannot get past the front door .. but maybe I'm missing something.

Suggestions?

Dear Len

I am a newbie like you and can share some of your fustartions - What i did was install Moodle on my localhost and experimented  (on the advice od old moodlers) - it worked

I am offering for you to look at "my TEST site" which i have set up for an assignment for my masters in e-learning (thus far my lecturer says it meets many of the criteria) - it is by no means a proper or perfect site like the others, but if you want to check it out please go to

http://eduossie.moodle.co.nz

i have left it open so no key is needed as it is a test site for school use - it tries to use as many of the different functuns as possible

i would welcome any comments or questions that i could maybe answer - other wist there are lotsof knowledgable people out there who could help u furthur

Go well and welcome to moodle
