Google Apps integration: Choose restricted range of users for user synchronisation

Google Apps integration: Choose restricted range of users for user synchronisation

We are a K to 12 school and most students and staff have Moodle accounts.

We are trying to setup Gmail accounts only for students in Years 5 to 12 - not for staff and not for students in K to Year 4.

When I activate Google User Synchronisation, Moodle immediately wants to synchronise (create Google account) for all existing Moodle users.  How can I tell Moodle to only create Google accounts for a specific range of Moodle users?

Thanks

Don't worry about the sync. Once your users are in you will need to login to your Google acount as an admin person The address wil lbe  https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain name of your school/Dashboard. Create a sub organisation in Organisation and users of who you want to use email and move the relevant users into that group, click on services and turn on email. Create a sub organisation of users who you do not want to use email abd click on services and turn off email. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks - makes sense....

How about new users that are added after this?  Where will they end up in Google?  Will I have to keep checking Google and moving new users to the appropriate OU?

There is a straight forward way to handle this. By default everyone new is synced to the main part of the organisation - turn everything off in here in services ( I tend to leave Contacts and Docs on so that everyone has access to them). If you want someone to have email then move them to the sub organisation which has email. At least this way you can cater for the majority automatically.
