Shows a teacher all of the assignments and manual quiz questions (essays and file responses) that have been submitted, but not graded. The block is configured to work with groups that is, teachers will only see the assignments submitted by students if they are both members of the same group. You'll have to let me know if it works with courses that don't use groups at all. You can install the block on the Front Page and it will show ungraded assignments for ALL courses, and if you put the block on a course page it will only show the ungraded assignments for that course.

When the block is added at course level, I create new courses from a 'course template' and in that template I have changed the permissions so students don't see that block - which is OK for those courses, but not ideal for existing courses, which as you say you would have to go back through and change course by course.
The bigger problem for me, is when the block is added to the dashboard (which is really useful for the teachers) as this will show the assignments that need grading across all courses they teach. Because the dashbaord doesn't know who is or isn't a teacher, I have actually created a site role called 'View assignment to grade block' - which has 1 permissions - e.g, the ability to see this block - I then have to assign all teachers this role at site level, so that they see the block and others don't. This is far from ideal, but it does seem to work.
We will be working on a Moodle 4 release of Grade Me block over the coming weeks, and will publish the new version as soon as it's available.
I'm working on the upcoming release, and am just following up on the discussion here. Currently I'm not seeing any specific problems with this block working on Moodle 4.x:
* When the Grade Me block is added to a course homepage it is visible to the Administrator / Course-level managers and is not visible to students by default, unless they've been granted additional permissions within the site that are different from the default. I do see that the submissions to grade are for some reason visible to the site admin even when the block_grade_me_enableadminviewall switch is disabled, but that seems to have already been working that way in previous releases so I've created an issue on our internal tracker to followup on that.
* When supported activity types with ungraded submissions are present and the cron task has been run, the ungraded submissions show up as expected in the Grade Me block for grading.
* When the ungraded submissions are marked as graded by the instructor, they then disappear from the Grade Me block as expected.
As always if you see any specific problems with the Grade Me block that you believe are bugs please do feel free to create an issue on our GitHub tracker at https://github.com/remotelearner/moodle-block_grade_me/issues with full detailed steps to reproduce including Activity type, steps taken to submit assignment and confirming that scheduled tasks have been run via cron, what page the block is being added to and viewed on, etc. We will post the new Moodle 4.1-compatible version on this page as soon as it is available, however running the Moodle 4.0 version should work currently on 4.1 since there are no significant changes.
Having an issue with site speed. Plenty Ram, Stirage etc. New VPS server 16gb ram etc etc.
Currently upgrading from Moodle 3.5, now sitting at 3.8.9 and installed the 3.8 version of the plugin.
Issue is for the Teacher / Trainers the plugin really bogs the system response time down from page to page.
The plugin is displayed on the Main page for the trainers / teachers
Where this is mainly noticeable is if I put the plugin onto the dashboard, I (as admin) can see all unmarked assignments across the entire site, however the average non-editing teacher will see very little, as they will only submissions from anyone in the same tenancy as them.
If I add the plugin at course level, it does work - it is only if you add it as dashboard level that it doesn't work due to the multi-tenancy issue.
Many thanks for the quick reply. I have both teacher and admin rights, so I should be able to all unmarked assignments. This is exactly what I wanted to know, thanks again!

I don't use groups but I want to assign an assignment to a given teacher. All students take the assignment, but the assignments are assigned to one or another teacher.
I installed the Grade Me block but I don't see how I can do that. Can you help?
Cheers,
Sébastien
Seems to be four places in the lib.php file and the whole assignment folder in the grademe/plugins/ folder.
I've tested this and it seems okay in Moodle 4.1, and in Moodle 4.2.
