PHPUnit notices or errors?

by Rafael Monterroza.
Hi Renaat,
I support your cause, the amount of deprecations is conspicuous.

Considering the lack of replies, Deprecations aren't gonna be worked until Moodle upgrades to PHPUnit 13 and it becomes mandatory.
I'm curious, what are you trying to accomplish by running it with --display-deprecations and --display-notices?

Best,
Rafael.

by Simey Lameze.

Hello Moodle community,

We're excited to announce that our Moodle 5.2 QA cycle begins today, March 16th, and will run for five weeks until the release date on April 20th.

About the QA Cycle

The QA cycle is an important part of Moodle's release process. During this time, the community helps test new functionality and verify fixes to ensure the next Moodle version is stable, reliable, and ready for release.

How You Can Help

You can contribute in several ways:

Execute MDLQA manual tests assigned to this cycle

Perform exploratory testing on the QA testing site

Report any issues you discover in the Moodle Tracker

For detailed instructions, please see the QA testing guide.

Reporting Test Results

We are excited to introduce new comment templates for reporting PASS and FAIL results during QA cycles. These templates were created by Isabel Renedo and myself to help make QA reports clearer, more consistent, and easier to review.

If you want to use these templates, install the Canned Responses Pro for Jira browser extension (free). It is available for:

Chrome

Microsoft Edge

Firefox

After installing the extension, a "Select template" dropdown will appear above the Jira comment editor. From there you can select the templates MDLQA – Test Passed and MDLQA – Test Failed.

These templates are designed to help with your testing reports, but they're completely optional. Use them if they work for you, or stick with your own format!

Need Help with a Test?

As another initiative to strengthen our QA community, we've introduced two new labels to help us better support you and continuously improve our testing process.

For clarification on testing instructions: Add the label qa_help_needed and comment with your question.

If testing instructions need updating: Add the label qa_instructions_update and describe the issue in a comment

For further inquiries: Join our Moodle QA chat on Matrix.

Important Reminders

Please only assign tests to yourself if you plan to execute them within the next few days.

If you're unable to complete a test, please unassign it so other testers can pick it up.

Comment and report results on the cloned test for this QA cycle, not the original MDLQA parent test. Double-check that both the Fix Version and Affected Versions fields are set to Moodle 5.2 and not "Original - DO NOT REPORT TEST RESULTS HERE"

Known Issue: QA Site Timer

We're aware of an issue with the timer on the QA testing site. Our team is currently investigating this issue. You can track the progress on MDL-88210.

Thank you for helping improve Moodle and contributing to the quality of the Moodle 5.2 release 🚀
