Maintained by Andreas Glombitza, Germán and TemudginGermán Valero
An interface that integrates with Moodle 3.x, 4.0 and 4.1 TinyMCE (legacy) editor to support teachers in creating CLOZE (Embedded answers) questions in the GIFT syntax. It will also read and edit existing CLOZE items. THIS PLUGIN WILL NOT WORK IN MOODLE 4.2 ONWARDS. For Moodle 4.1, 4.2 and newer branches please see https://moodle.org/plugins/tiny_cloze

The integration (PHP/javascript) is essentially a new button in the HTML editor which brings up an interface that helps create CLOZE questions in the correct syntax. It will also read and edit existing CLOZE items (which you have selected with your cursor).

Here's a demonstrator (which can also be used to create your own CLOZE quizzes):

For installation instructions and more, see the "More documentation on this plugin" link below.

This plugin only works with the TinyMCE (legacy) editor.  IT WILL NOT WORK WITH MOODLE 4.2 and newer Moodle branches that use a new TinyMCE 6 editor and no longer have the legacy TinyMCE editor available..

Daniel Thies made a very nice CLOZE editor plugin for Atto.

A new plugin for the new TinyMCE 6 editor (in Moodle 4.1, 4.2 and newer branches) is available in the Moodle plugins database.

The latest version 3.5r7 only has some minor syntax changes (when compared to the 3.5r5 version), in order to reduce the number of warnings reported by the code checker plugin.

The new version also reduced the number of issues reported by the plugins database code prechecks system (194-292 versus 195-334). The original code (before I started working on it) had 493-360 issues reported by the code prechecks system.

The new version should work exactly the same as the previous version. Please report any issue found.

The new version will be offered as a recommended update when you check your installed plugins, but the old version is maintained in case anyone develops a problem.

Hello, I use Moodle 3.9 and I cannot use multiple Choice Questions with the Editor, only single Choice. Do I have to enable multiple choice questions?

The cloze editor for TinyMCE only works with the 'Embedded Answers (Cloze) question type'.

For all the other standard question types or ather additional question types, you use the other icons available inside the TinyMCE editor.

Please see the documentation at https://docs.moodle.org/39/en/Embedded_Answers_(Cloze)_question_type

This cloze editor works with Moodle 3.x and Moodle 4.x TinyMCE (legacy) editor only. It will NOT work with the NEW TinyMCE editor included in the new Moodle 4.1.
