User Information Block

This block intends to give the user a few shortcuts in order to navigate quickly through every Moodle site. Besides it advices the user about unread messages and information about the last access to the LMS. It's already translated into spanish, english, portuguese and chinese.

Installation for Moodle 2.x:

1- Place the "userinfo" folder (if you have downloaded zipped then you have to unzip
it and probably rename that folder to "userinfo") into the blocks folder under the root of your Moodle installation.
2- Go to the notifications page and Moodle will automatically install this new
block.
3- Turn Editing on and add the block "User Information".
4- That's it. Enjoy it!

NOTE (for Moodle 1.9.x users): if you have downloaded this package directly from http://github.com/fbotti then you must know that this package has two branches: * 'master' branch: contains last Moodle Stable version (today it would be the v.2.x)
* 'MOODLE_19_STABLE' branch: contains the functionality for the last Moodle v.1.9.x. If you have Moodle 1.9.x version then maybe you will have to checkout MOODLE_19_STABLE version. Just type 'git checkout -b MOODLE_19_STABLE origin/MOODLE_19_STABLE' in your console to get the Moodle 1.9.x version.

    Moodle 2.1.2

    Non-admin users get a permissions error when they lick the "Edit my profile" link on this block. "Sorry, but you do not currently have permissions to do that (Update user profiles)"

    Ideas?

    Glenn Pillsbury have you find the solution? I have edit student role from Site administration > Permissions > Define roles > Student ... from the Capabilities, Update user profiles is check, but student still cannot edit their profile...

    Can this plugin display student's Group name or Teacher's name for the group? That would be very helpful as my students don't know who their teacher is!

    @Peter T Yes we could do someting like that but I'm thinking about what happends if a student is enrolled in more than one course. What teacher name should we display?
