Snap is a Moodle theme that makes online learning an enjoyable and intuitive experience for learners and educators.

Snap's user-friendly design removes barriers to online learning, enabling you to create the modern, engaging experience user's expect on the web today. Snap's intuitive layout is optimised for online learning, focusing on the things that matter - your learning activities and content.

Personal menu

Snap’s easy to use navigation gives users an elegant way to perform frequent tasks. All your courses, deadlines, messages and feedback are always one click or tap away to save you time.

Courses with personality

Every course in Snap let's teachers add a cover image to give it a unique personality.

Courses in Snap allow you create individual topics, so learners understand where their focus should be without being confused or overwhelmed by lots of links and options.

Each topic shows students their progress, which is updated inline with ajax as you progress through the course.

Every activity in Snap shows students the due date, if they have submitted, and if feedback is available - without having to open the activity.

Teachers are shown how many users have submitted an activity, and if they need to grade any submissions.

Teacher's workflows for creating and structuring content in their courses are also optimised to save time. With no need to turn editing on, inline resource/activity deleting, the ability to move multiple resources/activities at once, inline topic creation and many other ways to help teachers give learners the best online learning experience.

Working seamlessly across every device - from desktop to mobile, Snap’s responsive Twitter Bootstrap based framework provides a consistent, professional experience for learning whenever and wherever you want to learn.

You can learn more about Snap on our video playlist.

Under the hood:

Like most other Moodle Themes today Snap runs on Bootstrap 4, jQuery, Sass, and inherits from the Boost theme.

Snap is continuously updated, with each major version released 6 months after the Moodle release. If you'd like to test our work in progress it's always available on github!

Thanks a lot for share smile It is important to always have a correct posture in all areas, even at work. I bought a really good chair for my job because my posture was getting bad.

Hello, I've been using this theme for about a month and a half now. When I upgraded Moodle my Snap theme suddenly stopped rendering any CSS + JS. There is no styling at all for my website anymore. I tried upgrading to the newest version of the Snap theme but it still won't apply any styling. Any ideas?

Is anybody running this successfully on 3.11? I just installed snap (version theme_snap_moodle311_2021060101) and it does not display correctly. Massive icons a page-wide. Everything is out of place. I tried uninstalling and re-installing, cleared all my css, purged all caches.... I hope it's compatible with 311 - It ran beautifully on 3.8

Hi Jonathan, sorry, our error from our part. We haven't shipped a version that work on 3.11 yet, but we will at the end of 2021. Sorry for the inconveniences.

Hi Open LMS, I have noticed a bug with assignments in Snap theme.
When there are multiple user overrides for a due date, the front of the assignment shows an incorrect date, and all users see that same (incorrect) date regardless of their own due date.
Inside the assignment and on the calendar the dates are displayed correctly.
If I enroll a new student, that front display date then goes back to the original due date.
I am using 3.10 thank you for any help.

Thanks to the Open LMS team for sharing their latest and greatest work with Snap with the world--especially during COVID Snap has enabled our teachers to make student friendly courses!

Just wanted to report a bug and was wondering if there was a fix for Moodle 3.9+; we recently noticed on the drag n drop onto an image question type that when students drag an image onto another image (e.g. identify the parts of a rat's body during a dissection) that the dragged image "disappears" and turns into a spot for the target location.

The question type still works, but it's a little disorientating and confusing for students, and takes away from the visual nature of the question and feedback we can give students.

Thanks for your help and sharing your great work with the open source community!

Hi Rafael: Thanks for the quick reply! I am running Snap 3.9.3 (2020061103) there a newer version I should use with Moodle 3.9?

Thanks for all your help and for continued support of a truly innovative UI that makes building courses easier for teachers and students alike!

    Hi Rafael:

Wanted to report back that your code fix works perfectly on Moodle 3.9 and in case anyone is in the same boat...figured out how to add the additional lines of code to the _core.scss file at the end (that's what took me awhile to figure out where to find the file and where to put the changes)...once I purged the Theme cache, all of our drag 'n drop questions were back in business!!!

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction and for sharing your great work with the Moodle community to help us get our students through this crazy pandemic!!!

Hi @Joseph Liaw, Those are some great news! I am glad that you could fix the problem. The problem could have happened because you downloaded an older version. The MOODLE_X.X_STABLE version could receive some hot fixes along the way, so that is why your version does not have those changes. I could advise you to have a clone of the repo so you can have all latest patches.

Hi @Damien Bell, first of all sorry for the late response. Snap uses a set of cache systems to get some information about dates, completion, and other attributes for modules to present in the personal menu and cards. There are some issues about this cache that are being handled right now. I hope those issues will be fixed for future releases. Thanks for your concern and your comment.

    Hi Juan:

I installed Snap and kept it updated using the built-in Moodle plugin engine which notifies when there are updates available--is there a way to sync up the Github repository with the "official" Moodle plugin repository that's linked off this page? I suspect that's how most Moodle admins keep their production sites up-to-date, since the Moodle plugin repository will notify admin's of plugin updates, and it makes it easy to upgrade from the Moodle admin dashboard via the GUI interface.

Thanks again to you, Rafael, and the entire Snap development team for sharing your work and a truly innovative and forward-thinking user experience which makes course building and learning much more intuitive for teachers and students alike!
