A four option multiple true-false question type for moodle, as introduced by Krebs (1997). Kprime questions consist of an item stem and four corresponding statements or options. For each option students have to decide whether it is "true" or "false". Three different scoring methods are available: “Kprime”, where the student receives one point if all responses are correct, half a point if all save one response are correct, and zero points otherwise; “Kprime 1/0”, where the student receives one point if all responses are correct, and zero points otherwise; and “subpoints”, where the student is awarded subpoints for each correct response.

Thanks Marc for sharing the plugin with the community. And thanks for your attempt to clean up coding style issues reported by our prechecker tools. I can see this did not go that well, as the files now have improper end-of-line characters. See for details.

Additionally, I realized there are Juergen Zimmer and eDaktik mentioned as authors of the scripts. Can you provide some explanation on how does this plugin relate to their work?

Can you please consider replacing the screenshot with an image that better illustrates the question type (and is more readable).

I am going to mark the plugin as needing more work now. Once there is a new version available with the formal coding style issues fixed and the copyright issue is clarified, please feel free to submit the plugin for re-approval. Thanks for your patience with the review process.

Thanks Thomas for sharing this question type with the Moodle community. I was able to successfully test the basic functionality and found the concept really interesting and useful. There are couple of details I spotted while reviewing the code and I reported them into your tracker. I am happy to approve this now. Please note you may want to submit your existing German language pack via so that it is not accidentally translated again.

You are cleared to land, welcome to the Plugins directory!

I like this new question type.

I translated it into Mexican Spanish in AMOS and created a Moodle Docs page at (linked when the user presses a 'Moodle Docs for this page'). Please feel free to add/correct this new page as needed.

Thanks for this nice question type. I think it will be useful for many undergraduate quizzes (such as my Veterinary Pathology class) .

I really like the Kprime question type. We are using it in Moodle system in our higher education institution. Our institution use Moodle 3.1 and Moodle mobile 3.1.1. In the Moodle mobile 3.1, quizzes are integrated with the mobile app. However, the question type is not integrated with Moodle mobile app. When clicking into a quiz with the question type, it appears a warning message, "This quiz cannot be attempted in teh app because it has access rules not supported by the app: quizaccess_kprime".

The developer of “gapfill" question type asked about this issue in the Moodle forum. The official Moodle mobile developer has replied the forum. Generally, some development need to be done in the question type plugin side. He also provides detailed guide in the reply:

I really hope you can integrated the Kprime question type with Moodle mobile. It will also benefit a lot for other users.

At the moment there are no such plans. We would be pleased if you want to contribute smile And who knows what the future brings...

Do you know the difference between this kprime and the matrix question type ?
  • Wed, Jul 11, 2018, 5:34 PM
For moodle 3.5, this plugin fails the validator due to a path copied and pasted form somewhere else during development. AFAIK this has only become a problem in 3.5. Easy fix, go into kprime/db/install.xml and change the path on line 2 to PATH="question/type/matrix/db"

Please note that in Terus E-Learning's comment above the wrong path ist mentioned as it can be found in the plugin-zip. It needs to be changed to PATH="question/type/kprime/db"

The warning "Please answer all parts of the question." only occurs when the question is submitted with no options selected, but it does not when at least one option was selected.

    Hi there,

I've updated to the neest version of this plugin but now the questions are empty? Is there any setting or something else which needs to be done?
There was no error message during update.
