What you will find inside Unplag service and Plugin

Remarkable User Experience

Start checking right away, no special setup is required

There’s a two step registration at Unplag. Submit your request at unplag.com and have your corporate account validated within a few hours. Fund your account. Install the Unplag plugin. Keep in touch with your customer manager to clarify all doubts or discuss further cooperation.

Numerous text file formats

Unplag supports the most popular file formats: .doc, .docx, odt, .html, .txt, .pdf and .rtf.

Initial file formatting is retained

In plagiarism reports Unplag keeps document formatting unchanged without transforming tables, graphs, citations, images, etc.

Easy-to-interpret scan results

Each unoriginal passage or sentence is highlighted. Thus, you will quickly find those text parts which need to be worked over by students repeatedly and which need proper referencing.

Similarity sources with spotted duplications

Once a similarity check is performed, you can view a full list of links to the sources where duplications were detected. Similarities are spotted on each original source. This way you will be able to notice even the smallest text fonts fast no matter how many pages the source has.

Similarity reports can be downloaded in .pdf

You can view similarity check results both online and offline. For the latter, you will just need to click the “Download Report” icon. As a result, you will get a .pdf report with links to the sources with spotted text matches. Based on the report, you can easily provide feedback to your students saying what exactly should be corrected.

Checks available in multiple languages

Currently Unplag can scan for similarities in English, Spanish, German, French, Russian and Ukrainian. Should you need to scan student works in any other language, just let our help desk know and we will make it available for you.

Personal account manager

Every institution with a one/three-year Unplag software license has a personal account manager. This is the person you can always rely on whatever questions you might have working with the Unplag plagiarism detection engine.

Custom development

Since Unplag is a software development company we can develop custom functionality for your university. For this contact our Sales team and inform them about the features or options you might require.

Comprehensive Plagiarism Check

Fast student papers’ checks

The fewer the number of pages in a student work is, the quicker it will be scanned for similarities by Unplag. Generally, you will receive check results right away. It will take from several seconds to a few minutes. Though a file size will influence the check speed, since Unplag carefully analyzes each text to provide you with accurate results.

Scan against online sources in real time

To deliver precise check results, Unplag scans against numerous web sources indexed by Yahoo and Bing in real time.

Providing only relevant check results

Scanning online in real time, Unplag generates only actual check results. Should an online source be removed, blocked or outdated, it won’t appear in the list of sources where Unplag found similarities.

Thorough text analysis

From now on Unplag is able to detect even 4-word similarities. If you don’t need to have student papers analyzed so thoroughly, make use of the option available in each instructor’s account: omit the sources with a similarity percentage less than five.

Check against the library

This extra-useful feature allows instructors and account managers to run checks against the entire account library. It includes all the files uploaded by the account manager, instructors and students. Thanks to this you will be able to compare students’ originality rate across different subjects.

Instant and secure connection to your institution database

Check student writings against a vast academic papers database of your educational establishment. All the technical issues will be tackled by the IT specialists of your university together with Unplag. As a rule, connecting our checker to your database will take from one day to two weeks.

Identifying citations and references

Unplag automatically spots citations and references in the most commonly used formats: APA, MLA, Harvard, Chicago, and Turabian. All of them are highlighted and can be omitted from the plagiarism search and report. When excluded, similarity percentage is recalculated at once, so that you can receive more precise similarity rate.

Detecting character replacement

To pass a plagiarism check successfully some students may resort to substituting characters by the similar ones from other alphabets. Unplag can spot these changes and show which letters were replaced and what sources were copied by cheaters.

Fair Policy

Free trial accounts

Unplag enables educators to try out its plagiarism detection service for free before signing a license agreement or any other service contracts. We give you three weeks of the entire system trial to make your own judgements.

Disabling the “Sharing files” option

Unplag doesn’t copy or store your files unless you would like to do it voluntarily. To do this, you need to activate the “Sharing files” option in your personal account settings.

Teacher/Department/Campus/Institution scalability

If your entire college or university is not ready to use Unplag as the official plagiarism detection tool, you are free to start using it within one campus or department. It’s up to you what to choose.

Access to the new functionality by default

Whenever the Unplag production team upgrades Unplag’s functionality, all registered corporate clients will immediately get access to the updated features at no extra cost.

Hi Mikhail. Thanks again for your patience and for the changes done to the code based on the feedback here. This seems to be good to go now. I just raised some more questions in your tracker to make sure I understand the intentions well (issues #7 to #10). I do understand that no software is ever perfect and that approving a plugin here is just a start of its future evolution via regular updates, not a final state. I'll be happy to approve your plugin a go once the raised questions in the tracker are clarified / confirmed.

Thanks Mikhail. I am not sure the issue about set_config() component was fixed properly (see details in the tracker), but I am not going to block the approval any more. I am sure you will promptly fix all the bugs should they be reported by your clients. Good luck with maintaining this. You are cleared to land, welcome to the Plugins directory!

Dear Moodle community, I would like to warn everyone that comment posted under the user name "Rachel Obrien" on 22nd July is a fake and not true. Unplag does not run any online advertisements these days, neither we have functionality in our system to amend submitted material (auto-correct features or anything similar). Unplag's report uses color marks to show similar text, citations, and references (the report is a separate file from original submission). Specifically, Unplag reports that show up in Moodle as a result of using a plugin or LTI tool - are separate files from original submissions, therefore no amendments are possible to files submitted by students. In the standalone version at Unplag.com, a user can upload a file(s) and run a check, but not amend it. The system does not alter the submission in any way either. I have reported this comment as a spam to Moodle administrators.

Disclosure, I am a Partnership Manager at Unplag.

I was notified of the change from Unplag to Unicheck, and the Essentials Plan is what my non-profit university have decided to use. I filled out the sign up form but it is taking me days to become registered because the support team (not the sales team) is continuing to ask me various questions before I can have an account. We do not have any doubts about which plan to choose from, so there is no need for extra clarification from Unicheck support. We have already decided on the plan to use, or start with at first and then if necessary upgrade from there.
