    Rex,
Am I correct in thinking that this plugin ties the meeting to the person who creates the activity? As an administrator I've tried to create meetings for instructors, but when they open the activity they see the 'Join Meeting' button instead of the 'Start Meeting' button.

@Patrick GUYARD the API key is not tied to any user. It should be the system API key/secret that is used.

@jack z Yes the meetings are created for the user who created the meeting. So each instructor will have their own meeting instance.

@Chad Bergeron Only the person who created the meeting (the host) will see "Start Meeting"). So the system admin would need to login-as first as the instructor to make sure the meetings created have them as the host.

jack z, the plugin looks for the Zoom user with the matching email address. If you are getting an error it is because the zoom user that matches the Moodle user email address does not have access to create meetings most likely. Or a user cannot be found matching the email address of the logged in user.

@Rex only three people on our campus have the login-as capability. Most of our support staff will not be able to use this to associate the activity with the instructor. Thank you for the response though.

Rex - Do you think it would be possible to add a field that would show the meeting host id/email? This would be very helpful for an "at-a-glance" review of the host as we often use "login in as" professor to create meetings for them. When our staff misses this step, we have meetings that are "hosted" by the wrong people. This negatively affects recordings, in meeting privileges and sometimes causes issues with a person "hosting" simultaneous meetings.

Is it possible to distribute students to zoom breakout rooms based on their assignment to Moodle groups associated with the zoom activity?

@Shawn, yes that field can be added. We are in the middle of upgrading our system to Moodle 3.4 so we don't have anything to work on new features until the summer. If you or your team can provide a patch we can incorporate it.

@Todd Zoom is a separate system and does not allow us to specify groupings or information beyond just the user's name.

    Hi Rex,

Nice work on this plugin. I noticed Zoom will be moving away from the version 1 of their API to version 2 and will actually stop supporting version 1 somewhere this year.

Are you planning to migrate the plugin to this new API version?

Thankx in advance for your response.

@Diederik We have a pull request to update to API V2: https://github.com/ucla/moodle-mod_zoom/pull/28

However, we are currently busy updating our own Moodle instance to Moodle 3.4 and wouldn't have time to review and improve the Zoom plugin until this summer. API V1 will stop working on November 1st, 2018 so we will have a new plugin before then.

Hi Rex, in a previous comment you explained that for the group mode, there would just be a single meeting link for everyone in the course. To have separate meeting rooms we would need to create separate Zoom meeting instances.

Is this likely to change in future with later versions of the plugin? Creating separate Zoom meeting instances is not something that can be easily done at scale when you want to use Zoom as a tool for students to meet in separate groups to collaborate in real-time. We present courses with enrollments as high as 1000 students. That cohort of students is broken up into smaller groups for the purposes of collaborative work around assignments. So we'd have to create many Zoom meeting instances to have enough for all the groups in the course, which is operationally not something that can easily be repeated for each new presentation of a course and becomes a burden long-term.

I've tested the Adobe Connect and BigBlueButton Moodle plugins, both of which create rooms for each group automatically when group mode is enabled in the activity's common module settings. It would be great if the Zoom plugin could do the same, as we are wanting to move away from Adobe Connect and Big Blue Button because Zoom offers many other benefits in terms of features.

@Dimitri I see that the Zoom API has something for Groups: https://zoom.github.io/api/#groups

We can see what this is used for.

We've had trouble with unlimited duration graded meetings being graded in the Moodle gradebook. Also, what is the roadmap for this plugin development? It would be FANTASTIC for there to be additional data in the standard logstore table as well as a Zoom table of participants that we could use for custom reporting. Thanks for any insight! -Ben
