The reengagement plugin provides a way for you to remind students to return to the course and complete activities.

The email is sent a specified period of time after a starting event, which may be enrolment in the course, or completing an earlier activity.

If the user has already completed the target activity, no email is sent.

You can also use this plugin to selectively release timed content in a course.

This plugin is developed by the Moodle Partner Catalyst IT

Hi - we are considering the system update to version 3.5. Do you have a plan to upgrade this plug-in to be compatible with 3.5 anytime soon? If so, I'd love to use this plugin. Much needed one. Thanks for your response in advance!

    Dear Dan and Peter,

We had been using this plugin when few weeks ago (taking into account that we had too many courses) we decided to include course ID info in the notification emails too. %courseid% as it’s in the documentation.

We thought this was the Course ID number – the alphanumeric field from the course settings, but the result was something completely different. On the course settings page the number we’ve created is like: “ORIENT_GEN_ABOUT_ALLST_001” while in the email the result of %courseid% is “22”.

After checking all the emails generated, it seems to be a simple ascending numerical order, the last course we created gets the highest number.

I guess it’s the plugin not the system itself, we are using Moodle 3.4.2+ (Build: 20180405), plugin version is the latest one.

    Thanks,
    Janos

@Janos - the courseid is there so you can include a url to the related course in your email - eg: http://moodle.org/course/view.php?id=%courseid%

the course "idnumber" field is not something that is supported by the reengagement templates at this stage. Feel free to get in touch privately if you would like to fund further improvements to the plugin.

If I add the reengagement activity long after students are enrolled can I still have them sent notification emails weekly until the completion date? Also, I am not receiving any emails when testing but my Moodle does send messages and the reengagement activity shows that it was sent https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/3728318/386f72faa20045dc82b7afc3700141ae any suggestions?

Raymond - yes you can still send notification emails even for previous enrolments. The forums are a better place for support questions though - the comments field here doesn't make that easy. Just create a new post in https://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=44

Is it possible for users to opt-out (or in) to reminder e-mails? And to store a record of proof that users *do* want reminder e-mails?

Hi D R, The reengagement plugin uses Moodle notifications and a user should be able to configure which notifications they wish to receive form the site in the "Notification preferences" link found in their user profile, however it is not really an opt-in/out system. Feel free to get in touch privately if you would like to fund further improvements to this.

Hi there! Thx for the plugin !

I just Wanted to notify this error alert: using Moodle 3.5

Please do not call get_users_roles() with $checkparentcontexts = true and $userids array not set. This combination causes large Moodle sites with lots of site-wide role assignemnts to run out of memory.

@Lionel, this is the wrong place to report "issues" - please use the issues tracker linked here in the plugins entry. You will also find this is a known issue previously reported here:

    Dear Dan Marsden,
Thank you so much for the excellent contribution of Reengagement plugin.
Can Reengagement email be specific about which activity was not completed? e.g. Forum 1, Assignment 2, etc.

You can change the text of the e-mail that is sent manually in the reengagement settings, but you cannot automatically include information about the target activity.
