I actually love this plugin, i just wish it was more open.

Why does it need your server?

    Errors noticed:
    1. Common Chat has a typo its written in the module as comman.
    2. It doesn't display on my current theme

    Thanks for your feedback.

It needs our server for message relay similar to PubNub service.

    1. Oh, that's my mistake. I will correct this spelling in next update. For now you can edit the file local/vmchat/bundle/chat/src/lib.js at line no 86 to correct the spelling.

    2. The display problem seems to be getting conflicted with some jquery code of your theme (elegance). We have created an issue for this on github (https://github.com/vidyamantra/moodle-local_vmchat/issues/2).
We will fix this issue on next version.

    Hi!

I sent a PM to the lead maintainer (just in case), which I'll paste below. I have a problem regarding the chat interfering (I believe) with the theme... and a proposition to enhace the looks.

I've been trying to use this plugin on my company's Moodle platform, and the chat itself works like a charm, but for some reason the main left-panel menu simply disappears. I suspect it to have something to do with the theme I'm using (Archaius: https://moodle.org/plugins/view.php?plugin=theme_archaius), because that doesn't happen with other themes.

I'm using the latest Moodle version, 2.7 (upgraded it last week). Is there any possibility you could help me?

Also, I wanted to offer my help to enhace the design. I'm not sure if you actually want to do this, but since the whole plugin is up to date, I figured it could have a better-looking, more modern design... even if it's just about a couple changes here, a few images there. I'm a graphic designer (who believes in open source and freebies' world), and if there is anything I can do to "give back"... smile

Thank you very much for the great plugin, cheers!

    Hello Marta,

I am sorry, I am only active in Moodle Tracker and not on Forums.

This plugin at present conflicts with some themes that use jquery, problem is in Moodle at present there is no standard way for local plugin like our to include jquery. We are working on new version which should fix this version.

New version also has some changes to UI and general look-n-feel. If you would like to contribute, I would recommend you to use master version of our github and submit pull request. Please note that master version might is not recommended for production.

We plan to release new version by month end.

Noted. Since the new version is coming soon, I'll wait to see how it goes. I've signed up for an account on Moodle Tracker, and already have one on Github so I'll folow the development on those. Thanks again and have a nice week!

    Jesse,

This error message is shown when the user has not been authenticated by our servers.

Does login/logout disappear this error message ?

How many users are using vmchat concurrently? more than 100?

Try clearing your browser cookies to see if this works ?

In case it does not help then can you elaborate a more about the scenario in which error brings up so that it can help us to fix this problem. We will try to reproduce this error at our end based on your inputs.

    Hello Emanuelis,

Try new version with Essential theme. If problem persist Go to Vm Chat index page and try changing "How to deal with jQuery" options and see if it works.
