Your Moodle version

Course formats: Onetopic format

Maintained by que bueno que sabe el café colombiano... David Herney Bernal
Format to course that allows showing each topic in a tab, keeping the current tab between calls to resources, in such a way that when it returns from a module as the blog or the glossary it returns to tab from where you started. This format is based on the Moodle standard format: “Topics”. It accepts edition by AJAX.

    Hi David,

Thanks for a nice plugin. We encountered a strange issue during update to Moodle 2.7.2. Somehow, the update process seems unaware of the installed onetopic plugin, as it does not list it among the plugins installed and/or need to be updated. It is quite easy for admins to overlook this omission among hundreds of listed plugins and continue with update process, assuming all the previously installed relevant plugins will be carried forward to the updated version. Unfortunately, the onetopic plugin does not, leading to a disastrous 'orphaned' topics for the courses with this format. After re-installation of the plugin, the resources and activities get bunched together hidden under the first topic, making it extremely hard to relocate them for persons who were not creators of the course, perhaps even for the creators.

I am not sure whether this is Moodle update issue or onetopic plugin issue. We have encountered the issue both on our development and production servers with different admins. Please have a look. Thanks.

    Hi Jez H...

regarding to your comment "When I add a course and set it to Onetopic format there is no news forum added."... the News forum is added by the block "News" instead of the course format. This block is added as default in other formats but in Onetopic it is not. In my opinion, this forum is not always necessary. You can add manually the News block in a course in order to add the News forum automatically.

I have upgraded a new release of Onetopic format to moodle 2.7+, this release includes the below characteristics:
    - Fixed visualization of hidden/unavailable topics/tabs. Thanks to Mike Grant for your contribution on it.
    - Fixed bug when creating courses with Onetopic format by default. Thanks to Mike Grant, again ;)
    - Added "Disable/enable asynchronous edit functions" in order to make it possible to move the resources between tabs. Please, test it and please send me your feedback.

    Hi David
Thanks for the fixes, our teachers will be very happy.
After testing I have one suggestion:
The instruction: "Move current topic to the left/right of the selected topic" should be "Move current topic to the right of the selected topic" (because the topic gets moved to the right of the one you select).
    Many thanks

OK, it looks like we may be able to upgrade to 2.8 in January.
Has anyone tested Onetopic with 2.8?

I am also waiting with impatience for Onetopic on 2.8. Really love that excellent format!

    1. Should there be a + ADD A SECTION button at the bottom of onetopic? I can't find it. If it is not there, is it possible (or easy) to add it in sometime? I am using Decaf theme, and The course menu plugin, but I do not think this will be the problem.
    2. And I am curious along with Đinh as to if and when this may be ready for 2.8. I tried to join the Spanish Moodle today, but I could not post for some reason.

Saludos, as others have said: a wonderful addition to Moodle.

    Hi Caitlyn...

the instruction includes "left" because the topic is moved to the left if the target position is before to the current topic position. The topic is only moved to the right if the target position is after to the current position.
This difference is required in order to move the topic to the first and last position, if it is necessary.

I have upgraded a new release of Onetopic format in order to check compatibility with moodle 2.8+.

This release includes "Reduce and increment number of sections" feature. This feature is shown as the two last tabs when "Edit mode" is on. (Required by Derek Chirnside)

Please test it and send me back your feedback.

Please, report issues in the Github site:
