Blocks: QuickScan Dyslexia Screening

Maintained by Picture of Tony Butler Tony Butler, Picture of Ruslan Kabalin Ruslan Kabalin
This is the Pico QuickScan Dyslexia Screening block for Moodle 2.3+.

The block provides a link to a page containing an explanation of the QuickScan Dyslexia Screening assessment, and a button which redirects the student to the Pico web service in a popup window to perform the assessment itself.

You would need to register with Pico to enable the QuickScan service for your organisation.

Tony - Many thanks for sharing this plugin with the Moodle community. Please review and let us know how you would like to handle the tracker and documentation. A screenshot would also be helpful when you have time.

Would you consider setting up a time when you might be able to give me a quick (5 min) demo? That will allow me to see the code in action.

I noticed that the copyrights indicate - 2012, Lancaster University, Ruslan Kabalin. I believe you are with Lancaster University but am not sure of Ruslan's role. Might you explain if Ruslan is still involved with this plugin?

For now, I am going to mark this as needing more work until we get the recommended URLs squared away. If you have any questions or concerns just let me know and thanks for your patience with the approval process.

    Peace - Anthony

Thanks for the advice Anthony. I've added a link to the GitHub issue page for the block's repository. This is a very simple plugin so there isn't any documentation as such, but I have added a link to the Pico product page so people can find out more about the QuickScan dyslexia screening service if they are interested in using this.

I've added a few screenshots to illustrate the functionality of the plugin; as I said, it is very simple and there really isn't any more to it, other than the assessment itself. I've included a screenshot of the config page to show that the Lancaster-specific information can be easily changed.

Ruslan is the original developer of the plugin and is still involved. I currently work with him and he asked me to publish the block (in response to a request from Pico).

Hope this is all OK. Many thanks, Tony
