Our solution: We will reactivate the users temporarily and remove the roles from those specific users.

    Hi Alexander,
We appreciate your bloc, and use it in most of our courses. Do you plan to make it officially compatible with Moodle 3.1? It could then be installed/updated directly via Moodle web interface.

    Hi Séverin,

citing our Moodle release support statement from https://github.com/moodleuulm/moodle-block_people/blob/master/README.md:
    -----
Due to limited resources, block_people is only maintained for the most recent major release of Moodle. However, previous versions of this plugin which work in legacy major releases of Moodle are still available as-is without any further updates in the Moodle plugins repository.

There may be several weeks after a new major release of Moodle has been published until we can do a compatibility check and fix problems if necessary. If you encounter problems with a new major release of Moodle - or can confirm that block_course_overview_campus still works with a new major relase - please let us know on https://github.com/moodleuulm/moodle-block_people/issues
    -----

Currently, we plan to work on 3.1 in July. But as far as I see, there are no fatal errors with the 3.0 version of this plugin on 3.1. Is there any problem for you with running the 3.0 version on 3.1 that requires the plugin to be marked officially compatible with 3.1?

    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,

    Sorry for the late answer.
For what i've seen, the 3.0 compatible version works well on 3.1.
Having a plugin marked (officially / in Moodle plugins) compatible with later Moodle version just allows a more simple way to install/upgrade for administrators, and "prove" it's maintained. This way, people who decide to update to latest Moodle version (with compatible plugins) better trust it wink

    Hi Séverin,

thanks for your feedback about 3.1 and glad to hear that the 3.0 version still works.

I fully understand your comment and marking the plugin as compatible with a certain version and we will do this as soon as we did our internal tests in July. I just asked because I thought you need the 3.0 version to be marked as compatible with 3.1 _now_

    Thanks,
    Alex

Hi Alexander, thanks for this useful plugin and for your instructions!
I have only one problem: I can't see the block in my frontpage, despite I installed v3.0-r3 (2016030700) version.

    Can you help me? sad

    Hi Chiara,

well, after installing the plugin, you have to add it to a course where you want to use its functionality.
Without more details about the things you have done or you have failed to do, it's hard to help you in any way.

    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi Alexander,
I added the plugin to one course: in the course page It works perfectly, but I want to insert the block in my home page as well: is it possible?
    Thanks in advance

I have to explain it better: in home page I don't wanna show the block of a specific course, but I wanna list all the users with "teacher" role. My goal is to create a contact block for students who have issues with the LMS, so insert this block in home page seems better to me. Inside the single courses I already use a ticket plugin, for all the issues related to them.

    Hi Chiara,

you can place the block to the frontpage. But it will only show the teachers which are enrolled in the "frontpage course". This is how this block is built and what it is intended to do.
We don't have plans to extend it in a way you want it to work, sorry.

There are some more blocks in https://moodle.org/plugins/browse.php?list=category&id=2 which do similar things like our block. Just have a look if you find something more suitable for you.

    Thanks,
    Alex

Hi Ricardo, I'm using this one https://moodle.org/plugins/mod_tracker smile

Alexander, thanks for your advice, I'm going to check other blocks! So, I definitely can't place People block to the frontpage? I can't understand what do you mean with "frontpage course" sad

    Hi Chiara,

technically, the frontpage is also only a course (with course ID 1 and some special features), and technically, you can place the people block onto the frontpage. But it will only show you the users who are enrolled into this frontpage course and not all the teachers on your site. Thus it's not what you are looking for, sorry.

Indeed, It would be really ok smile the "teachers" who are going to manage help requests will be always the same three.
So, I think I can try to enroll them into the "frontpage course".
