This module can be used to work with competence grids within Moodle spanning over courses. Teachers and students can document their process in working with different competence fields - students self-reflect and build up their competence-profile. Portfolio artefacts can be associated with competences. Also teachers can assign learning paths to students and provide them with different activities and materials. This and other modules belonging to the exabis series was developed together with the Kultusministerium Baden-Württemberg and Landesinstitut für Schulentwicklung, Germany and the Federal Ministry of Education, Austria.

With this module competency based education can be administered within Moodle. The module has been developed since 2014 and is loaded with different features. Also two webapps called eLOVE (electronical lifelong outcomeoriented vocational education) and Dakora (Das Arbeiten mit Kompetenzrastern = working with competence grids) are available in appstores that can be used as a frontend to Moodle working with adaptive learning scenarios and eportfolios.

Competence grids can be created collaboratively at www.edustandards.org (export of xml-file) but also within Moodle.  Teachers can add their own materials and Moodle activities to competences. Students can self-reflect, contribute by adding individual artefacts to competences and build up their compentence-profile course-independently.

This module focuses more on distributing materials needed for adaptive learning processes then compared to Moodle competences that relate to Moodle activities. It is possible to exchange data from Moodle-generated competences that are associated with Moodle activities and the exabis series.

With the exabis-series consisting of exabis ePortfolio, exabis competencies and exabis student review teachers can work on individualization scenarios. Students can contribute portfolio artefacts, teachers can roll out materials to students selectively and reports can be generated documenting this work.

For a detailed documentation refer to the Teacher's manual.

    Hello,
Looks like an interesting plugin. Unfortunately I cannot make it work (version 3.01 with Moodle 2.9).
The step "subject selection" produces an error:
Debug info: ERROR: for SELECT DISTINCT, ORDER BY expressions must appear in select list
    LINE 5: ORDER BY s.sorting, s.title
    ^

    SELECT DISTINCT s.id, s.title, s.source, s.sourceid
    FROM mdl_block_exacompschooltypes s
    JOIN mdl_block_exacompmdltype_mm m ON m.stid = s.id AND m.courseid = $1
    ORDER BY s.sorting, s.title

    How can I fix this?

Thanks for any help & best regards,

Hello Pascal, it should work now, you can download the newest version from github.com/gtn/exacomp - it was a postgres-problem,

    Best regards

    Hello Andreas,
thank you for exabis modules, they are very helpful. We have been using them for some time but two weeks ago we upgraded moodle to version 3.05+ and eversince we are not able to get graphical interpretation of overal competences gained/self evaluated/not started as it was available before in a form of pie chart and line chart. Was this feature taken out from current version of exabis competences, or should we put more effort in proper setup of competence module? Many thanks for your answer.
    Best Reards,
    Honza

We have switched the competence profile to a more detailed concept, you should be able to see a progress bar within competence fields now, regards Andreas

    Hallo Zusammen,
"Competence grids can be created ... but also within Moodle."

    "Course-specific (adapted) grading
If a check mark is set here, the grading can be set specifically for every course."
