After installing block_course_overview_campus with its default settings and adding it to your frontpage, it behaves like block_course_overview from moodle core. Additionally, news from your courses can be folded and unfolded and courses can be hidden from the course list.

To make use of the advanced features of the block, please visit Site administration -> Plugins -> Blocks -> Course overview on campus. There, you are able to activate filters for course category, course term and course teachers and can configure in detail the way courses and courses' metadata are displayed in the course list.

    Hi Michael,

there will be a 2.9 version within the 1-2 months, but we didn't start working on it due to our internal release cycle.

I didn't receive any problem reports about running the 2.8 version on 2.9 up to now, so please give it a try and let me know if you encounter problems.

Thanks for the positive feedback, Michael.

I have released a 2.9 version in the meantime (which does not contain any new functionality at the moment).

    Hi Nelson,

with so few information about your problem, it's nearly impossible for me to assist you. The only thing I can say is that I don't think that this message comes from my plugin and you should check first if there is a fundamental problem with your moodle installation + if you can't install other plugins, too.

Hi all, any plans so far for when this plugin will be updated to work with Moodle 3.1? Thanks!

    Hi Chris,

citing our Moodle release support statement from
Due to limited resources, block_course_overview_campus is only maintained for the most recent major release of Moodle. However, previous versions of this plugin which work in legacy major releases of Moodle are still available as-is without any further updates in the Moodle plugins repository.

There may be several weeks after a new major release of Moodle has been published until we can do a compatibility check and fix problems if necessary. If you encounter problems with a new major release of Moodle - or can confirm that block_course_overview_campus still works with a new major relase - please let us know on

Currently, we plan to work on 3.1 in July. But as far as I see, there are no fatal errors with the 3.0 version of this plugin on 3.1. If you encounter any problems, please let us know and we will provide a hot fix.

    Hi Alexander,

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

Indeed, the release support statement was one of the positive reasons to opt for your plugin. Kudos!
Still, pardon my curiosity... just wanted to plan my way forward.
Glad to hear the news re. 3.1!

    Thanks again,

I just wanted to say many, many thanks for this plugin - absolutely fantastic work, and it's made a huge difference to our users' ability to make sense of their Dashboard pages. By the way, we're using it under 3.1 and having encountered any issues.

I really like the plugin and the Moodle in our institution is using your plugin in the dashboard page for every user. However, I found a bug. Let’s first set up a user enrolled in a module within a category and also a module in the sub-category within this category. When selecting this category in the filter, both of the modules can be displayed. However, if refreshing the page, the module in the sub-category is not displayed any more.

It is quite important for my institution, since all teachers are enrolled in modules in a category and sub-category. I hope that you can fix it as soon as possible.

    Hi Yezi,

thanks for reporting an issue. As this seems to be a bug, please report it on instead of here in the Moodle plugin repo.
Please have a look especially at which might already describe your problem.

    Hi Ricardo,

as usual, there will be a 3.2 version within 1-2 months due to our internal release cycle.
And, as usual, we expect the 3.1 version still to work on 3.2. So please give it a try and let me know if you encounter any problems.
