Kaltura's Video Package for Moodle 2.x makes it easy to add the robust capabilities of Kaltura's open
source online video platform to any Moodle site. The package was developed specifically for Moodle
and integrates with other features and modules, such as resources and activities, so that users can
upload and embed media easily.

The package adds the following features for all users:

* My Media: users’ personal media gallery, for uploading, viewing, managing, and sharing media

* Create screen recordings and use them in the Kaltura activities

* Integration as an external repository with the file picker accessible from the text editor: embed your media or media you have access to, anywhere you can author text

In addition, Teachers and Admins have the following features available:

* Video Resource activity: Easily add video content to your course as a specialized resource

* Video Presentation activity: Create a synchronized view of a Document and a Video

* Video Assignment activity: Allows students to submit videos as an assignment submission

* View engagement reports for videos used on your course


Version information:

Please take note of the version of Moodle you have and the version of the plug-in you are installing. The Download page states which version of Moodle the version of the plug-in is for.

Version information example: Kaltura release 3.0.96 (RL:

3.0.96 is the version of the plug-in that Kaltura has release. It does not correspond to any Moodle version number and it should be referenced when contacting Kaltura support.

RL: is our internal version. The first two points (2.5) correspond to the version of Moodle that it has been tested with (Moodle 2.5.x).

    Thanks Jess, my apologies if I'm reading this incorrectly but I'm actually looking for the non KAF, Kaltura release 3.1.02 (RL: (2014010901) plugin branch. I can only see 3.0-4.0.09 tags which look like plugins to help upgrade to v4. I'm looking to use the free CE edition of Moodle.

    I'm afraid we no longer maintain non KAF based versions of the Moodle plugin. You're more than welcome to start such a FOSS project yourself of coursesmile

    Thanks Jess, I've started a FOSS project here https://github.com/acheckley/kaltura-moodle_plugin-v3/tree/MOODLE_31 and will take it as far as I can go but possibly will need other contributers to assist.

    Can I use KAF with Kaltura CE ?
    I use Kaltura Video Platform - Community Edition 12.5.0 & Moodle3.2

    KAF is a licensed product and you can't have it in conjunction with CE.

    Here's the documentation:
    In short - you need to extract the zip at the root of your moodle installation, and go to the notifications page in admin.

    We've noticed some issues with the Kaltura plugin on Moodle 3.2 (using the plugin version that's supposedly 3.2-compatible). First, using the Clean theme in Moodle, the "Kaltura Media Gallery" link appears by itself in the "Current Course" menu in the navigation block. The Current Course menu doesn't exist in the navigation block under Moodle 3.2. The current course is listed under My Courses. The "Current Course" menu only appears after the Kaltura plugin is installed. What's more problematic is that the Kaltura Media Gallery link is now in a different location from the other content in the course (in the navigation block). This Moodle Tracker ticket includes a screen shot a site that exhibits this problem: https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-58213

    It seems to us that, assuming Moodle doesn't change the new navigation block behavior in 3.2 (which I actually think they should.... it's messed up in 3.2), the Kaltura plugin should be updated to place the Kaltura Media Gallery link with the course's actual links in the navigation block.

    And incidentally, in the new Boost theme, the Kaltura Media Gallery link doesn't appear at all in the new lefthand side drawer. That would seem to be another problem.

    Brian, thanks for the feedback.
    If this is related to the v4.0.11 Kaltura plugin, it would be much faster to go through Kaltura Customer Care to get that fixed.
    In general, a better place to report issues would be the github repository of the plugin - https://github.com/kaltura/moodle_plugin/issues

    I installed the plugin on Moodle 3.1. I filled the credentials. But I want to enter on My Media and appear the following: "500: Internal Error
    This website is unavailable at the moment"... I am using a server in HostGator. Please, some idea of the error ?

    I think I installed the plugin correctly but I see that I still can not use the plugin features..

    It would be best to contact Kaltura Customer Care as we may need more details or an online session with one of our engineers to help you with the installation.
    If you have a CSM in Kaltura you can also contact through your CSM.

    The problem I reported in 2014 still exists. I accidentally overwrote our fix and now I'm in trouble!

    Function kalvidassign_get_graders gets potential graders with this function call:
    $potgraders = get_users_by_capability($context, 'mod/kalvidassign:gradesubmission', '', '', '', '', '', '', false, false);

    However this results in emails being sent to all of our category level role assignments. To follow the policy in core moodle, only users enrolled on the course should get emails and the call should be:
    $potgraders = get_enrolled_users($context, "mod/kalvidassign:gradesubmission", null, 'u.*', null, null, null, true);
