Simple

Simple template to extend the standard theme

Key features

  • Simple design
  • The front-page design uses blocks in the content area and displaying them as boxes
  • Possible to use different colors for different departments for example
  • Easy to change the template color
  • Multi device optimized: "Simple" follows the best practice of using responsive web design, namely serving the same HTML for devices and using only CSS media queries to decide the rendering on each device

Thank you for this very interesting theme. A possible bug:

When Moodle is in a sub-folder on the URL (e.g. www.site.com/01):

If you click on the site logo you will be taken to www.site.com/?redirect=0

But if you click on Home in the breadcrumbs, you will be taken to www.site.com/01

    How can this be corrected?

    Thanks!

    Another point:

Even if I have activated "the topic section" in the frontpage settings, it doesn't display on the site's front page. Having blocks is OK but why take away the topic section?

    Hi PH

    Thanks for your comments.

    1) Logo Link in sub-folder:
Good point. You can fix this by adding <?php echo $CFG->wwwroot; ?> in front of /?redirect in general.php and report.php.
We will fix that in the next release.

    2) The front page content is completely hidden. We decide to work only with blocks in order to make it completely responsive.
You can change this by removing and in frontpage.php.
We will NOT change this in the next release.

Thanks for the quick reply. I followed your instructions but now the logo doesn't link to anything. I have got it wrong I suppose. Could you give me a slightly bigger chunk of the code please?

Actually I used the same exact code but for whatever reason it didn't seem to work even if I had purged the cache. But it worked fine the next day. Thanks.

I uploaded Simple to my Moodle 2.5 account. It is available in the theme selector list, but is not listed in the theme dropdown in the site admin menu so I'm not able to customize it. Need some help please. Other plugins like Educator and Zebra show up in the list.???

Hi Don, check if theme_simple appears in the plugins overview: Site administration > Plugins > Plugins overview. If it's not there you did not upload it into "theme" Folder. If its there, purge all caches: Site administration > Development > Purge all caches.
    Hope this helps!

Add a comment...I installed "Simple" on a subdomain to test it but I have a problem with the font on the first page. The letters are so cramped they are not visible. When I go to any other page everything seems to work fine. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be? this is a screenshot of the problem. http://prntscr.com/1desxj

    Hi Ricardo,
I'm not sure what you mean by: "not listed in the theme dropdown in the site admin menu".
check if theme_simple appears in the plugins overview: Site administration > Plugins > Plugins overview. If it's not there you did not upload it into "theme" Folder. If its there, purge all caches: Site administration > Development > Purge all caches.
    Hope this helps!

You could try to delete it and install it new. I don't know if this helps. Maybe there is something else in Moodle not working correct. Also check if you have the 1.5 version of the Simple theme for your 2.5 Moodle version.
