That looks to be a new feature request we haven't considered and maybe something our community may be interested in investigating and/or working on. If you wouldn't mind describing the functionality in our issue tracker on our Github page, we'd be able to take it under consideration (https://github.com/ncstate-delta/moodle-mod_zoom/issues).
Thank you so much for the suggestion!
I have a feature request. It would be amazing if the recordings page (what you see after selecting 'view recordings') could include the name of the recording and allow the name to be edited in Moodle.
Students would be able to locate the correct recording more quickly if instructors can rename the recordings. For example, if there are 10 recordings and each recording is a different guest speaker the instructor could name each recording with the name of the guest speaker.
This sounds like a helpful feature request! We'd love to make sure that you get credit for this idea and are involved in any discussions that occur. If possible, please open a feature request issue on our GitHub page: https://github.com/ncstate-delta/moodle-mod_zoom/issues
May i know if this plugin allows me to track the attendance of the Zoom meeting from within Moodle?
Thanks in advance!
I have one questions about this plugin aceppt the integration with zoom Server-to-Server OAuth? for now i can with zoom JWT
I will appreciate your answer, thank
We're switching to Server-to-Server OAuth, as we manage several Moodle instances for the same Zoom domain, do we need a separate Zoom S2S OAuth App for each instance?
With JWT we've been using only one JWT App (and anyway, as far as I'm aware of, we couldn't have more than one JWT).
Thank you for your work!
Davide
Yes, the plugin does work with Server-to-Server OAuth since v4.8.0. For now, you can still use JWT, but it will stop working in June 2023, so switching to Server-to-Server OAuth is recommended.
Hi Davide Ferro,
Server-to-Server OAuth apps are very flexible. As they are not assigned to a specific domain, you can use the same credentials for multiple Moodle instances (similar to JWT). If - for whatever reason - you wanted to have multiple Server-to-Server OAuth apps, you can, but it is not required. Example: If there was a Moodle instance where you wanted to restrict the level of access, it is possible to grant only the required OAuth contexts for that instance.
We value privacy and security, so we're very happy about the Server-to-Server OAuth change because it means that users of the plugin do not have to worry that the plugin will have access to the entire account (which JWT granted).
I want to avoid the teacher non-editor enrolled in a course receiving reminders about zoom activities. Can you help?
I'm not familiar with any reminders that are being created by this plugin. Is it possible that the teacher non-editor is added as an alternative host in Zoom? If so, then they can probably log in to Zoom directly and turn off those email notifications in the "Email Notification" section of their profile settings: https://zoom.us/profile/setting
We are looking at starting moodle development with zoom sdk, we want the classes to be seen from moodle and prevent the zoom link from being shared. Do you recommend this solution for platform performance? Can it be implemented with the latest version of moodle with zoom sdk?
It sounds like you want to use the Zoom SDK instead of sending users to the official Zoom desktop clients or apps. I do not have any experience with the SDK, but it should be possible. For performance reasons, I believe that the official Zoom apps and desktop clients are best.
Your goal, to prevent the Zoom link from being shared, seems like a difficult battle to fight. If you can instead use Zoom's built-in meeting restrictions, it could save you a lot of effort. Best of luck!
Recently i noticed a message in the official Zoom web page where you can read: "The JWT app type will be deprecated in June, 2023" so i wonder, Are you planning an update to include other applications types ?
Yes, in v4.8.0 the plugin added support for the Server-to-Server OAuth app type. For now, you can still use JWT, but it will stop working in June 2023, so switching to Server-to-Server OAuth as soon as possible is recommended. Instructions on how to update your configuration are available in the release notes.
