You may want to consider using the Active quiz activity, instead of this, older, Realtime quiz activity. Active quiz is based on Realtime quiz, but adds question bank and gradebook support, feedback charts, better controls for the teacher, group support and many other useful features not found here.

A multiple-choice quiz designed for use in a face-to-face lesson.
Each student receives each question at the same time with a time limit to answer it (default 30 seconds). In between each question the correct answer is displayed, along with the number of students giving each answer (and some statistics about the percentage class / individual correct answers). This allows each question to be discussed before moving on.

Teachers can review the answers, once the quiz is finished, to identify any areas that need to be covered again.

Recent improvements (2010) include:

• Ability to add a picture to each question
• More attractive question display
• Easier question editing
• Reduced network traffic & improved stability (particularly on wireless networks)

Hi,
I translated this plugin in french on Amos this weekend, integration was ok but 4 strings are probably wrong in code. Please look at this picture :
This is the first screen... Thanks to correct this !

Eric - I'm afraid I cannot reproduce the error you have shown. The text is displaying fine in my local install of realtime quiz.

Please can you make sure you clear your Moodle site cache and your local browser cache and try again? Also, please check to see if there are any javascript errors.

If you are still having a problem, please open an issue on tracker.moodle.org (against my realtime quiz plugin), with details of your Moodle version, browser version, etc.

OK, I find it. It seems that the 2 strings : teacherjoinquizinstruct and teacherstartinstruct are guilty.
If I remove the It's ok...
I will send this in AMOS.

Hi,
I was just playing around a bit more with the realtime quiz, and found a bug. When editing a quiz, it is apparently impossible to input an answer as "0". Just the symbol "0". If you put in "0.", or " 0" (with a space), or "00", then there's no problem. But if you put in just the single character zero, 0, then the answer disappears upon saving

Stephen - I can see what would cause that.

I've just pushed some code out to github (but not got time this sec to test it to double-check it works). Are you able to try it and see if it fixes the issue for you?

Will the Realtime Quiz work with the latest version of Moodle i.e. 2.6?

Thanks Davo, that's fixed it!

Regarding the bug reported by Éric Bugnet, I have the same problem under 2.4.8. Language pack is updated. In AMOS, I still see the BR / code.

How can I fix this? It work fine in English, but nothing works in French.

Update

I fixed my problem by changing the strings locally according to Éric Bugnet's post. However, the problem seems to be related to the way lang packs are managed. I reported the issue int the tracker: https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/CONTRIB-4839

I can't install release 2.x (Build: 2013112800) in mdl 2.7. Installer reports that "Add-on does not declare its version".

Is a release for mdl 2.7 forthcoming?

David,

I've never seen that error message before.
As far as I am aware, there is no good reason why the plugin wouldn't work in Moodle 2.7, however, I have not yet had a spare evening to do any testing.

When I next have some spare time, I'll look to see if any changes are needed and release a 2.7 version.

Davo,
I successfully managed to install it in mdl 2.7 by NOT using the installer and just uploading directly to the /mod directory.

Works well. Is it possible to pull in questions from the question bank?

Thanks for contributing this plugin -- it adds a very useful extra dynamic to classroom activities.

OK - I suspect it may be related to the renaming of the $module variable in version.php to$plugin - I'll look at it and see what I can do.

No, pulling questions from the question bank is not possible and, realistically, I'm unlikely to ever get around to implementing that.

Glad you found it useful - students always enjoyed it when I used it in my classes.

This plugin is fantastic. My classes love it and it facilitates a much deeper level of learning than any of the other quiz modules as you can explore each answer in full before moving onto new content.

I just wish there was a faster way of entering questions or use the question bank.
It sounds like that's 100% not on the cards?
