Media collection is an activity that enables users to create galleries (of image/audio/video). The galleries themselves have many display options the user can choose such as displaying in a grid or carousel, and defining the number of items to show per row/column and such.
Each item can have metadata supplied (title, publisher, medium, production date, etc).
When viewing a gallery, selecting an item brings up a lightbox interface that allows the user to view a larger version of the item along with the metadata. Social options are also visible in the lightbox interface (liking & commenting).

First at all sorry If is not good posting my question here.. I am newbie.
I use this plugin and I need create galleries including Vimeo videos instead of Youtube
Any idea how I can do that? Thanks
Unfortunately only youtube is supported for videos not hosted within Moodle itself.
Regards,
Adam.
We're loving this plugin for organizing videos. Is it possible to have multiple contributors to one gallery? We want to create a gallery in which all teachers in the course can add daily videos (for morning announcements). Is this possible? It seems to be read only for everyone except the person who creates the gallery. Even site admins can't add new content to someone else's gallery.
thanks very much!
Glad you're enjoying it.
With how the plugin currently works, the one work-around you could do is to use a group. If you have the activity in visible groups mode, and have the instructors/teachers in a group together, all the group member should be able to contribute to a gallery then created by one of the group members.
Some new features and changes are coming soon in a new version. I've written a brief write up on some of whats included here: https://www.rurisu.net/index.php/2015/08/29/media-collection-upcoming-features/
I have added a single type to the installation of one of our clients. They want to use one gallery in a collection for all learners in a course. I have forked the repository, committed and submitted a pull request. Let's discuss about the implementation details of this single type collection.
Best,
Virgil
“Contributable” flag for galleries. Allows other users to contribute content into your gallery."
But it isn't available for instructors to turn on the setting. How is it available to other users?
One question: is it possible to configure it so that students can see each other's uploaded images and can comment on them but are unable to delete the images that other people uploaded? At the moment students can delete galleries deleted by other students in the same group and I would prefer to avoid that. I think I have tried the different options but I may be being a bit slow.
Thanks
Is it possible to provide support for vimeo hosted media?
Is it possible to auto-create a thumbnail from the video? I read somewhere that the plug-in does this, but have never been able to get it to do this
Thanks
I am using moodle 3.0.4, after install successfully, I can not create new Media Collection. It still shows the create page, but when I save, it returns to http://localhost:8081/moodle/course/modedit.php and show the empty page, none was create. I tried restart all server (I use WAMP in Window 10). Is there anything I miss?
I've just released a new version for 2.9/3.0 which resolves the problem you're facing. Upgrade the mod_mediagallery plugin to that in your instance and you'll be able to add new collections again.
