Part of set Lightbox Gallery.
This resource allows you to create 'Lightbox' enabled image galleries within your Moodle course. As a course teacher, you are able to create, edit and delete galleries. Smallthumbnails will then be generated, which are used for the thumbnail view of the gallery.
Latest release:
3577 sites
1k downloads
100 fans
Current versions available: 11

Clicking on any of the thumbnails brings that image into focus, and allows you to scroll through the
gallery at your leisure. Using the Lightbox scripts creates nice transition effects when loading and
scrolling through the images.

    Hello Imran and Adam,

I'm not sure if it's related, but sometimes I also get this error when trying to access a Gallery after updating through Moodle. I've found that it's due to the permissions on the plugin directory/files. Once the permission are reset to what it was previously, the gallery/plugin works fine.

    Hi Adam, Ali,

    Thanks for your reply.

It is showing 500 Internal Server Error.
Will it be possible, if I update it back with older version 2.8.0.3 or problem may become more complexed.

Following is message that appears as I click any Lightbox gallery:

"The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@elearning.jsmu.edu.pk and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

    Imran,

Part of your error message states: "More information about this error may be available in the server error log."
That's where you'll need to check what the actual error is.

Simply replacing the plugin with the older version will have Moodle complain about the version mismatch if you've already run Moodle upgrade with that new version in place.

    Hi Bert,

Please report your issue at: https://github.com/netspotau/moodle-mod_lightboxgallery/issues

It'll help if you can provide more detail when you make your report. What page are you trying to access? What version of PHP are you using? What version of the plugin are you using? Do you have access to the error_log of your webserver to supply the actual error message?

Problem solved: Thanks to everyone for discussion and guidance.

I have just renamed folder public_html/mod/lightboxgallery to lightboxgalleryOld and then installed latest update mod_lightboxgallery_moodle30_201509180.zip, now it is up and running. (Problem solved)

    Hi,
i have a question, is it possible to turn of the the download button?

    Hi Mirko,

Currently there is no way to turn off the button. Were you wanting to turn it off because its showing up weird, or to prevent people downloading images?

I ask because if its the latter, there won't really be anything stopping a user just right clicking on the image and saving it anyway.

    Hi,

First of all, I'm new on moodle.
I'm having a problem trying to find the folder where the image are stored in. Do you know how it works?

Hi Adam. Many thanks for providing this plugin to the community; its functionality is really appreciated by our staff and students, and we’re really grateful to you for your efforts to maintain and update it.

On that note, please could I quickly query whether you have any plans to update the plugin to be fully compatible with Moodle v3.1, and its new Global Search feature in particular? To clarify: while we’ve tested the Lightbox Gallery plugin under v3.1 and all of the core functionality seems to work fine, we’ve found that instances of the activity are not searchable via v3.1’s Global Search feature. Please see the following screenshot for details, which lists all of the available areas that can searched under v3.1 (note that these settings are available via: Site Administration -> Plugins -> Search -> Manage Global Search):

    http://imgur.com/lWWQByE

Note also that the above screenshot was taken on a v3.1 system where the Lightbox Gallery plugin is installed and available. However, as you can see, the Lightbox Gallery activity is not listed as being available to be searched. Obviously, this is likely to be a significant problem/cause of confusion for users who might want to search for specific instances of the Lightbox Gallery activity across Moodle.

I’m not a developer, but my understanding is that mod plugins can be made searchable relatively easily via the addition of a new search class within the plugin’s codebase (located at ../classes/search/activity.php). Please see the following for further details:

    https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=334938
    https://docs.moodle.org/31/en/Global_search
    https://docs.moodle.org/dev/Search_API

We really hope this search capability can be added to Lightbox Gallery as I’m sure it would be a huge benefit to our users (as well as those of other v3.1 systems) and, again, many thanks for all your efforts to develop this plugin and share it with the community.

    Best wishes,
    Lina

    Hi all,
Is these any possibility to add video file to the Lightbox Gallery, installed in my Moodle site as independent resource on frontpage, not attached to course. It looks that only images could be uploaded, since it would be useful to have also video files displayed on the gallery view..

    Hi,
updated Lightbox to ver 2.8.0.9 (latest) on moodle 2.9.8+
However all galleries now report error 500, when I try to view it...
Same for old ones, or new one I create.

    Any help?

    Thanks,
    Ratko

    Hi Ratko,

Are you able to provide any more detail from error logs or error messages you see? I've just retested 2.8.0.9 on 2.9 and haven't been able to reproduce any issues.

    Hi Andreas,

Are you installing the version downloadable from here? The latest code on the master branch on github won't work on 3.1 due to that issue. You need to use the version tagged v2.8.0.9
