One of the great benefits with using H5P is that it gives you access to lots of different interactive content types.

Another great benefit with H5P is that it allows you to easily share and reuse content. To reuse content, you just download the H5P you would like to edit and make your changes – e.g. translate to a new language or adjust it to a new situation.

H5P is:

  • Open Source
  • Free to Use
  • HTML5
  • Responsive

Note that it is currently possible for people with programming skills to cheat in H5P interactions and obtain the full score without knowing the correct answers. H5Ps must not be used for exams or similar.

The H5P community is actively contributing to improve H5P. Updates and new features are continuously made available on the community portal H5P.org.

Hi Jacques, we are aware of this and are talking with Moodle to find a solution. You can follow the issue and get instructions on how to manually fix it at: https://github.com/h5p/h5p-moodle-plugin/issues/313

I'm confused. I have H5P module installed on my Moodle and it seems that some activities can't be updated. I've got an error message saying they need version 1.24 but the only version on this page is 1.20. Can anyone explain how this works ?

The plugin has a dependency to H5P Core, whose version is different than the plugin. Version 1.20 of the H5P plugin uses version 1.24 of H5P Core, so upgrading to 1.20.1 will allow you to use the newest content types.

    Thanks for this great plugin,

I wanted to ask if it is possible to insert link to external video other than youtube and vimeo (to MediaSite precisouly),

We have plenty of videos on our MediaSite and wanted to see if it is possible to link them into h5p on Moodle

    Best regards.

Thanks. it should be possible if you have a direct link to the external media, i.e. directly to the media file.

Thanks @Thomas, well actually I copied a link to a video on our Mediasite I tried to inserted into H5P when creating an interactive Video, but it didn't work out

This is the direct link to the video on Mediasite : https://mediasite.usj.edu.lb/Mediasite/Play/89d2c96b755b459381bc6b65ed5212b21d

Hi Mario, that is not a direct link to the video, a direct link would be something that ends in .mp4 for instance. This link is a page where they have their own video player embedded and the video is sourced from a binary blob, so it can not be reused in other contexts. I suggest reaching out to mediasite and ask if they can provide you with a direct link to the video, you'll know that it is a direct link by the extension and that it will use the browser's default video player.

Thank you Thomas for your reply and I will see if that is possible
One more thing, any idea if H5P is totally free or it is partially free ? in case it is partially free do you know what features are free ?

Hi all, I am using Moodle 3.8 and trying to install H5P 1.20.1 but whenever i try to install h5p 1.20.1 on moodle 3.8, the site always crashes. I even tried to install it from the zipped version of the h5p 1.20.1 plugin, but same error. Can anyone provide me a solution for this ? Thanks.

Hi all, do anyone have any idea why I am facing the above issue ?

    Hi Pankaj,
    1. If you won't get answers here, maybe you should ask in Moodle Forums. There is even a new dedicated "H5P" forum there:
    https://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=8603

    2. The first thing I would do that in your situation is to enable debugging, and see if you get an error that would give you some clues, or at least something that you could paste when asking your question, and maybe would help others to understand what's the issue with your system.

When installing or upgrading the plugin, one message (info) is hardcoded to english. I'm PT-PT translator.
    Line 50 of install.php and line 274 of upgrade.php
"H5P fetches content types directly from the H5P Hub. In order to do this the H5P plugin will communicate with the Hub once a day to fetch information about new and updated content types. It will send in anonymous data to the Hub about H5P usage. Read more at the plugin communication page at H5P.org."
    Thanks for the plugin.
