ForumQ2A is a new forum activity based on the open source platform Question2Answer(www.question2answer.org).

Warning: This plugin uses a third party library that supports old PHP/MySQL drivers only. It cannot be installed on Moodle sites running on other databases or using other drivers such as MySQLi.

New version now supports MySQLi.

ForumQ2A is a new forum activity based on the open source platform Question2Answer(www.question2answer.org). It will be possible for the users to:

  • ask their questions
  • write their answers
  • vote for the best answers
  • comment on other people’s answers
  • sort questions by the number of answers or views
  • add tags to questions

Teachers can also perform the following actions:

  • select the best answer
  • manage the questions reported as inappropriate

    Thanks Leyun for sharing this module with the community. I did not manage to get the plugin running on my testing platform as the underlying QA library is hard-coded to support MySQL only, and only the older (original) mysql extension. That driver has been deprecated as of PHP 5.5.5 and the plugin does not work with the new mysqli extension (reported as issues #2 in your tracker).

    As a consequence, I can't approve the plugin fully here. I've put a warning to the top of the plugin description and moved it to the experimental category. I am ok with publishing it there so that folks can eventually find it there.

    Hi,

    Just to make sure: I'm using PostgreSQL, so this plugin will not work on my setup, right?
