Face-to-face activities are used to keep track of in-person (e.g. classroom) trainings which require advance booking. Each activity is offered in one or more identical sessions. These sessions can be given over multiple days. Reminder messages are sent to users and their managers a few days before the session is scheduled to start. Confirmation messages are sent when users sign-up for a session or cancel. This module may be of interest to administrators looking for a way to provide event management support for blended learning environments.

Just noticed that the documentation for Moodle 2.5 at https://docs.moodle.org/25/en/Integrating_Face-to-face_sessions_on_the_course_page has important extra information that is missing from the version for Moodle 2.6, 2.7 and 2.8. Looks to me like the documentation for Moodle after v2.5 was not copied from the correct source or the Moodle 2.5 documentation was updated after it was copied for subsequent versions.

Strange thing is that this integration information isn't included in the README.txt installation instructions.

Could someone please update the integration document so that it works in each version of Moodle?

    Best regards,

    Michael

For anyone who sees errors in the course page after adding a Face-To-Face module, you will need to add a global $CFG in front of the following line:

    include_once($CFG->dirroot.'/mod/facetoface/lib.php');

That should not only get rid of the error message but actually make it work if your Moodle installation is anywhere but in the root of your webserver.

Stacey, can you please make sure that this gets added to the updated integration instructions as well?

    Best regards,

Hi Stacey (or anyone else who can help).

We are having a small issue with the Facetoface plug in and would like to reach out to you for help.

It appears that a custom field we created isn't getting translated when we switch from English to French.

Any help with this would be really appreciated.

    Thank you!

Just installed the 2.8 version on Moodle 2.8 and when I tried to add an event I got
Fatal error: Call to undefined function facetoface_instance_created() in "mod/facetoface/classes/observer.php on line 80"
Sounds like it is happening a lot.
    Any ideas?
Need it up and running last week and still can't get it to work.

    Help!

    Hi all,

As you may be aware this plugin is sometimes supported and sometimes not. There are a few reasons for this and I am trying to rectify some of those as I go through things and sorry for the delays.

One problem that the community of users can help me with is the way in which issues are being reported. At the moment there are many different threads being opened - here, in the plugin directory feedback, github, private messages to me etc - sometimes reporting the same issue or something that might be resolved within a different version. This means that it is difficult to track the exact issues and clearly identify where and when things should be corrected and to let the community know of updated code.

I have switched off bug reporting on the github directory itself in the hopes that the Moodle Tracker itself becomes the only place for issues to be reported. I'd like to also build a roadmap for coming versions and feature improvements so having all the issues in one place will really help this plan moving forward. There have been, since I took over maintenance, a few things I'd like to add and alter but first I need to get the current code into a consistent state.

If you experience a issue please first check the tracker to see if there is an item already reporting this which you can add to and/or vote on and if not then please create a new one. The forums and plugin comments should ideally be used only for questions regarding general support such as configuration questions, suggestions for features and their related discussions and general use or feedback of the module. I will not be able to support bugs reported in these locations.

In the meantime, thank you for your patience,

    Stacey

    Hi Stacey

Many thanks for taking on face2face, it really is a vital plugin IMHO. Will it be available for Moodle 2.9?

Is there any way to mark attendance or record the session as 'completed' so it forwards through to the gradebook? We would like to use this to show that a student has completed a workplace interview.

We upgraded to Moodle 2.9 when anyone clicks signup to a course we get a web page unavailable message.

The managers email still goes out.
The page trying to load is the confirmation page.

We've been upgraded and working with it for months and none of the users have mentioned it until now as it mostly works, they just need to refresh.

    Hello,

This is a fix for those having issues with moodle 2.9, specifically where you are receiving a blank page after people are signing up for your course. As far as I can tell this should effect everyone.

There is an incorrect reference to a class, it is located in the file mod->facetoface->classes->event->signup_success.php

In this file, on line 41, instead of the class being just 'signup' it should be 'signup_success'.

The reason that you can refresh the page and not have this error, is because the second time around it recognises that you have already signed up and does not try to run this code.

For clarity, line 41 should look like this:
    class signup_success extends \core\event\base {

Hope this helps some people, and hopefully the curators of this plugin can fix that in the future.

There doesn't appear to be any other references to the old class name, I believe this is just a typo and is only used once, so you should be fine to change it.

    Hi again.
Moodle 2.9, I would like the approval required box to be on by default.
Anyone know which file I find the 0 that needs to be a 1.

    Thanks Jimi
