Facetoface

Activities ::: mod_facetoface
Maintained by Catalyst IT, Dan Marsden
Face-to-face activities are used to keep track of in-person (e.g. classroom) trainings which require advance booking. Each activity is offered in one or more identical sessions. These sessions can be given over multiple days. Reminder messages are sent to users and their managers a few days before the session is scheduled to start. Confirmation messages are sent when users sign-up for a session or cancel. This module may be of interest to administrators looking for a way to provide event management support for blended learning environments.

    we do have an updated version in github that supports newer versions - maybe lambda could provide a pull-request with some of the changes they have made as well?

    Is this fix included in the latest version?
    https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/CONTRIB-4270

    My plugin is up to date. And I still had this issue, but fixed using the tracker's method. Thanks.

    @Intist - yes, but only in the code available for Moodle 3.2 and higher. If you are using Moodle 3.1 or older it may not be included.

    Hi,

    How to get active event list? Which column in facetoface table can I refer for active/inactive status?

    Do you accept feature requests for this plugin? If so I've got a few feature suggestions which would be useful:

    * Ability to bulk upload session details from a spreadsheet or CSV file
    * Ability to set default settings for sessions
    * Option to prevent attendees signing up for more than one session in a given workshop
    * If possible, clash detection so that students receive an error if they try to sign up for a session that clashes with one they already signed up for
    * When the start time is changed when adding a new session, automatically update the end time selections so they are the same or later than the start time

    Hi Dan,

    Great to hear you've found the plugin useful. We welcome pull requests from external developers with improvements and bug fixes but don't do any feature development work on facetoface ourselves without funding. Feel free to get in touch privately if you'd like to pay for our time to make improvements to facetoface. Thanks!

    @Ricardo - this might help: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=220601#p962132

    The most recent version of the facetoface block for Moodle I found was here:
    https://github.com/totara/facetoface-block-2.0
    Doesn't look like it has been updated in a long time....

    Hello,

    I've found that by adding this plugin to a course, I can add participants who are not enrolled in this course.

    Is there any way to restrict participants to the scope of the course?

    @ricarcdo - better to ask for support in the forums: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?f=999 - you might get more people who will respond there.

    @ricardo--yes, it has always been like that. in the 1.9 (yes, 1.9--2013) version, a colleague fiddled with the code and required it to only list people enrolled, which was super nice...but we tried to avoid a lot of custom mods once we updated because custom mods mean a lot of work when you change versions. I just try to remember to check the participant list and manually add a role to the student when I manually add a registrant/booking.

    @Dan--there is a more up to date one...it is good through 3.4? Stacey actually got the early bird award for the 3.4 version...that is now two dot versions behind but that's better than nothing.

    Thanks Melanie, yes it looks like we need to update the plugins db with the slightly newer code from github. I don't expect we'll get the 3.6 early bird award on this plugin - the existing code should work fine in 3.6 but for full support it needs to have the newer 3.6 privacy api class functions added and as we don't have any clients using this plugin planning to upgrade to 3.6 any time soon we might have to rely on a community patch to add the new api functions.

    how can we get csv file for all courses not a single course, in other words, can we have global reports across all courses using face to face?

    you might need to use a custom report plugin such as the customsql report to do this.

    how do i change the location for each session? i see the email has a token [session:location], however, i haven't been able to locate the field that dictates that. we are using this for sessions that have multiple different locations.
