This issue is fully described in MDL-26707. You do not need this plugin if you are running Moodle 3.2 or higher.

News Forum creates a news forum on course creation. This eliminates the requirement to have the latest news block installed in order to create the forum. This issue is fully described in MDL-26707.

The plugin has no options; once installed it will create the news forum automatically on course creation. If you later delete the news forum from a course it will not be re-created by this plugin.

    Hi Charles,

I have code-reviewed your plugin and I think it's nice and simple.

I think it should be added to Moodle plugins repository as it is.

    Thanks,
    Tomek

The integration of MDL-56811 resolved the issue that led to this plugin's creation. There's no harm in installing this plugin on a 3.2 system but it's not necessary. I'll continue to maintain this for pre-3.2 versions but I don't plan to develop it further.
