A modular and visual course format. Hides all topics and creates a grid of icons (one for each topic) with short titles. Clicking on an icon brings up the content from the corresponding topic in a "lightbox" style display.

Support:

The format comes with NO support.  Please see the 'Support' section in 'Readme.md' file that comes with the format.  This is because the format is complex and I regret that I don't have the time / resources to freely assist with questions pertaining to specific enhancements / changes / knowledge improvement.

I will investigate genuine bugs and issue fixes in a timescale set by myself.  When reporting issues you MUST clearly state the full version and release of both Moodle and the Grid format format as contained within their 'version.php' files - if not it takes me longer to figure out, often resulting in me asking for the details anyway and slowing the process of solving your problem down.  It really helps to upload and describe in detail the issue you are having on the 'Course formats' forum.

More to follow as new icons have been added....

Privacy API support starts with V3.3.0.5 for M3.3 and V3.4.0.4 for M3.4 where the API has been implemented in the minor release of Moodle.

    Hi Gareth
Really neat plugin. We are using it with "Show one section per page". Our problem is that each section has multiple embedded videos and this is resulting in a very slow load of the main page. From what I can see the main page source includes all the content of the various sections even though they are not displayed when showing one section per page. Is this correct? Is there any way to avoid this?
    thanks

    Ken

    Hi Ken,

Does the same thing happen when you use the Topics format with the course and that same setting?

    Hi,

When I try to install version "3.1.1.1 (2016060702)", the system says it is installing version "3.0.1.2 (2015112106)".

Thanks for this excellent plugin, which lots of people use and love. I have noticed a problem where, when I create a new course from a template - the grid border colour is changing from what it is set to (both the template course and the grid defaults are set so the border colour should be #dddddd) to a single 0 - then if you go into the course settings to edit the settings, when you go to save the settings it reports this as an issue - it is easy to change this each time, but is a step that I don't want to have educate all the tutors in doing. I don't know if you have seen this problem, or if it affects anyone else. We are using Moodle 3.2.1+ (Build: 20170119), Grid format plugin 3.2.1.0 (2016111502) and the Adaptable theme 1.3.1.1 (2017012300). Thanks in advance

    Hi Dave,

This is to be fixed in the next release being 3.2.1.1. If you wish to patch your version now, please see: https://github.com/gjb2048/moodle-format_grid/commit/8948ced26d8caf5e37b196bb30f211b93dc75d6e.

Upgraded to version 3.2.1.0 of the plugin.
    On moodle 3.2.1
When switching to my language (hebrew) which is RTL the plugin looses the hand and X pointer skins (when pointing at an arrow to move to the next section and when pointing outside the section to "close" it by clicking the background)
Another issue is the arrows to move between sections get flipped in RTL language

    Hi Ben,

Yes I can replicate but not sure how to fix yet. Ref: https://github.com/gjb2048/moodle-format_grid/issues/41.

Good morning, Gareth! I'm a fan of the plugin you created!
I would like to ask for help!
I can not change the "Grid" image. When I click on "Change Image" the new page (image change) is empty.
    We use Moodle 3.2.
Another thing, the Plugin name is translated into Portuguese, but has a dot at the end. This point is giving a conflict in version 3.2 at the time of creation of new courses.
    Thank you for your attention.

    Hi Charles,

Ok you forgot to tell me that you are using pt_br instead of pt as the version of Portuguese, this wasted time. I tested course creation with both pt and pt_br (which has the dot) and I get no conflict or error in M3.2.

I tried to replicate the "Change image" issue (on M3.2 Essential development version, Clean and Boost) with pt_br and could not replicate. Therefore probably a JS issue with your site.

    Cheers,

    Gareth

    Hi,

I just installed version "2016111502" on my Moodle 3.2.1+, but the plugin is not showing on the course format list (??). Plugin installation was successful.

I run another Moodle instance (v3.1.4+). On this one the plugin (2016060702) is working just fine.

    Any idea?

No idea, sorry. Look in the PHP log for any errors.

How can I set Week 1 Week 2 etc instead of Section 1 Section 2 etc... Currently I need to change each title. All courses are weekly based, so its better to add week 1 week 2 .

Nisanth - I don't think you can automatically set the grid format to display Week 1, Week 2 etc, you do have to do this manually. The collapsed topics format would let you do this, but gives a different layout.
