How to use one block for all courses?

In order to gather experience points from all the courses a student is participating in, you have to set the admin setting Where are experience points used? to 'For the whole site'. This setting is located under "Site administration > Plugins > Blocks > Level up! > General settings". Once set, any block newly or previously added will display the total experience points of your students.

How are experience points calculated?

Please refer to the Level up! documentation.

How to unlock content at a certain level?

Shortcodes supported

What are those? Shortcodes can be used in text editors throughout Moodle to include or modify the content. The plugin Shortcodes must be installed to enable them.

Level up! comes with shortcodes to display the learner's level badge, their progress bar, or even the leaderboard anywhere you like. Shortcodes can also be used to conditionally display content according to a learner's current level. For a list of available shortcodes and their documentation, please refer to Level up! documentation.

Is there any way to add alt text to the customized images for each level so that the level 1 image has an alt="Level 1"?

    Hi Kristin,

this looks like a bug to me, may I ask you to raise it at https://github.com/FMCorz/moodle-block_xp/issues

Error writing data base with moodle3.03

Hi! Thanks a lot for this extension! I have a problem, the same as Carla Oliveira. After install v2.1.2. on moodle 3.0.3 when I try to access to "Information - View the ladder" and "Report - Settings" I go to a 500 Internal Server Error. Can you tell me, please, if this is a bug? Thank you very much.

    Hi Ricardo,

This is very hard to debug, could you possibly ask your System Administrator to look at the error reporting (logs) and see what is happening? The error 500 is very generic.

    Hi Frederic!

Can you debug and see what is happening now? Thank you very much for you patience.

Frederic, everything is Ok now. the problem was concerned to some kind of permissions in the server.

Hello Frédéric! Can you help me? A have a problem, my students can not seen block "Level up" when I see them. I clear the cache, change the roles , but no results. In the "rights" of students is that they can see the block. What could be the problem?
  • Wed, May 18, 2016, 10:38 AM
Did you check the permissions on their roles? (earnxp, xp:view, ...)
  • Wed, May 18, 2016, 2:31 PM
Yes, i did. I even gave the right to add this unit, but students still do not see this unit, it only
sees the administrator, the teacher also sees his pictures without the stars
  • Wed, May 18, 2016, 2:33 PM
in the roles I have set to give the right to all that concerns the unit of experience, But they still can't see it. The administrator can see in the log what experiences have they had, but students don't see themselves
  • Wed, May 18, 2016, 2:36 PM
is there a detailed user manual, after installing the plugin for the roles?
  • Wed, May 18, 2016, 2:54 PM
There isn't, but the default permissions should be enough for default 'student' role to work. There must be another permission that conflicts with those ones. Any user that has the permission 'block/xp:view' in the context of the course where the block is displayed should see it.
  • Wed, May 18, 2016, 3:31 PM
I checked the rights of all roles, everywhere is "Give the right", but the student still doesn't see. I also put other topics, no change, cleaned the cache too, nothing has changed. What could be the conflict?
