How to use one block for all courses?

In order to gather experience points from all the courses a student is participating in, you have to set the admin setting Where are experience points used? to 'For the whole site'. This setting is located under "Site administration > Plugins > Blocks > Level up! > General settings". Once set, any block newly or previously added will display the total experience points of your students.

How are experience points calculated?

Please refer to the Level up! documentation.

How to unlock content at a certain level?

Shortcodes supported

What are those? Shortcodes can be used in text editors throughout Moodle to include or modify the content. The plugin Shortcodes must be installed to enable them.

Level up! comes with shortcodes to display the learner's level badge, their progress bar, or even the leaderboard anywhere you like. Shortcodes can also be used to conditionally display content according to a learner's current level. For a list of available shortcodes and their documentation, please refer to Level up! documentation.

To this day, exporting the leaderboard is not possible, but that could be done. Would you mind raising an issue on github? https://github.com/FMCorz/moodle-block_xp/issues

    Merci ! smile

Our Admin just enabled your plugin and I am trying to use in for one of my fall classes.

Is there a way to have the points of a graded assignment be translated into experience points?

    Hi John,

Not at this stage I'm afraid.

Is it possible to add the Level Up block in to the Moodle Mobile App?
  • Mon, Jul 31, 2017, 11:44 AM
Not at this stage, but I'd like to add support for that in the future.

Hi, I have a question about rules posted here with a screenshot: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=356383

    Your question has been answered.

What is the criteria for editing the required xp levels? I can't edit the "XP required" fields on the Levels tab.

My other issue is that when I want to add a new rule based on the completion of an activity, the dropdown list is empty, as seen in the screenshot:

    Am I missing something?

  • Fri, Aug 4, 2017, 6:55 PM
Oh and my site is 3.3, and the plugin version is the latest.

This condition is not about activity completion, it is to restrict the activity in which the event occurs. I suspect that you do not have any activity in your course, or that you are using the plugin "site-wide", in which case only activities on the frontpage display.

You cannot edit "XP required" when you are using the algorithm to set the levels. In the first section, expand for more options, you should be fine then.

    Using Moode "3.1"

Just updated the plugin to "v3.0.0"

Now when I try to access any activity setting I got this error message:

Exceção - Class 'block_xp_manager' not found

Thanks for your feedback Ricardo. This seems to be a bug coming from the other plugin availability_xp. I am hoping to get a fix shortly!
