Thanks, Im installing Moodle 2.4.
I am now stuck with a Plugin Dependency Check that I can NEVER pass with this plugin installed.
I just spent that last 5 days trying to figure out why my UTF8 MySQL database wasnt good enough for the Moodle 2.4 upgrade. Now I have to deal with plugins that the developer knows wont pass a dependency check, and doesnt care enough to post how to fix it. Thanks.
Can you please, please, please, post how to solve this little conundrum. Not everyone specializes in computer code. Id like to get on with real life. I dont want to be frustrated with Moodle, you, my computer, MySQL, or anything else today, but I`m beginning to feel like I should walk into a bar naked with a poodle under one arm and say to the bartender.......
Never mind, it was a bad joke anyway. Can you just post how to get past the plugin dependency check? Thanks.

Chantal I'm confused by what you have written here.

Are you having a problem with the checklist block, or were you just looking for somewhere to let off steam about plugins in general?

If the problem is with dependencies for the checklist block, then there is only one dependency for this block and that is that you also install the checklist module (as stated clearly at the top of this page and in the README instructions included with this block).

If there is some other problem that you are having with the checklist block, then please explain what it is.

Hi, Thanks for the quick response.

Thank for telling me that this error message means!!
--- I needed to check the mod/checklist and ensure that the checklist module is installed and in the right place. It wasn't in the right place(by accident, of course).

You're right, I am quite frustrated. But I was genuinely having questions about installing Checklist. The README file does not expressly tell me where to FTP the files to in the hierarchy and I had to guess, which is usually a bad thing in Moodle. After reading everything I could find on Checklist, I still couldn't find the problem and these first few posts didn't give me any clues.

Sorry for the frustration, and a very big Thank You for all your help!

Everything is working great!

Chantal - to quote from the README included in the main checklist plugin ( https://github.com/davosmith/moodle-checklist/blob/master/README.txt and http://docs.moodle.org/en/Checklist_module ):

Installation
...
2. Upload the files to the your moodle server, placing the 'mod/checklist' files in the '[moodlefolder]/mod/checklist', (optionally) the 'blocks/checklist' files in the '[moodlefolder]/blocks/checklist' folder and (optionally) the 'grade/export/checklist' files in the '[moodlefolder]/grade/export/checklist' folder.

If you think this wording can be improved, please feel free to suggest alterations.

Hi, I received this message
Dependencies check failed for block_checklist, block_ejsapp_collab_session, block_ejsapp_file_browser
and require
mod_checklist (2010041800)
What can I do

I don't know what theblock_ejsapp stuff is, but, as it says at the top of this page, you cannot install the checklist block without the checklist activity.

I'm having exact same problem reported by Chantal, I'm using ubuntu 10.04 and moodle 2.4. I went through standard install procedure and now finding "Plugin Dependency Check" that I absolutely CAN NOT overcome. Looks like some folks have somehow fixed this. Please help explain what was a fix. (I'm complete novice to moodle, install or use).

Appreciate any pointer.

GT This is a known problem with the Moodle automatic installer - if you automatically install a plugin without first installing the other plugins it depends on (and to be fair, the instructions at the top of this page clearly state that the checklist block does not work without the checklist activity), then the only way to resolve it is to manually install the plugin that is required.

So, you just need to download the mod_checklist plugin (linked to above) and upload it to your server (read the included instructions for full details). You should then find the install for both plugins proceeds without any further problems.

When I add the Checkilist block, select a group to show 'all participant', it shows a long list of usernames who are not in this course. I don't know how the block got the names from. Anyone has similar issue? Thanks
• Thu, Feb 20, 2014, 3:44 AM
William - the block shows all the users who have the capability 'mod/checklist:updateown' - in the context of the linked checklist activity.

YOu should check if you have given that capability to some of your users at the site level, rather than at the course level.

Thanks Davo, very quick and prompt answer, fixed now. Cheers.

I checked my other Moodle sites, looks like the Manager role has mod/checklist:updateown allowed as default, may I suggest to change it to 'not set' in next version?
• Thu, Feb 20, 2014, 3:27 PM
William - the default for that permission, in my code, is for only students to have that capability. If the manager role also has that capability, then that must be due to a change made on your site.
