Authentication ::: auth_uniquelogin

This authentication plug-in prevents that each one Moodle user has more than one active session simultaneously.

The goal of this authentication plug-in is to make sure that each user in Moodle only has one active session simultaneously. Once the user logs in, the existing previous session is terminated. Note that this does not work with SingleSignOn plugins.

To work properly, the plugin needs to be on top of the authentication plugins list and Database-stored sessions are enabled. Check the module documentation to more information.

Administrator can configure whether teacher and administrator roles are affected by the plugin.

This plugin is being maintained by ED-ROM, the portuguese Moodle Partner.

    Hi.
    It works fine. I recommend to anybody who uses this plugin that, follow the installation instructions. Moving the plug-in to the top position is very important. Otherwise, it may not work with some of the 2-factors verification plugins.
    Thank you, Antonio.
    Regards.

    I've read the description above and several comments, and I am confused.
    If a user is already logged in, and tries to login again (on a different browser or device), what happens exactly? Will the second session be refused or will the first session be closed?
    I suggest that this is made clearer in the description, if possible.
    Thanks.

    Hello. Considering that Moodle now has the option to limit concurrent logins, is this plugin any longer necessary? Does it offer anything that core Moodle doesn't.

    Site admin > Plugins > Authentication > Manage authentication > limitconcurrentlogins

    P H, this plugin has more options, namely the possibility of not appling the restriction to users with teacher or admin role.

    Sorry Indranil, I don’t fully understand your question. However unique login refers to a single account, preventing multiple simultaneous logins of that account. I don’t see how multiple login can be addressed by this plugin.
