  Still no fix? I managed to embed question using /filter/ manually but the atto button still not operational as when I click on it with atto no reaction at all.

  There is nothing for us to fix. The problem is almost certainly something specific to your server. The plugin works for us. It works when the automated tests are run (https://travis-ci.com/github/moodleou/moodle-atto_embedquestion) and 400+ other people have the plugin installed and are not reporting problems.
  
  Only you can investigate why it is not working on your server.

  Hi @Galit. You need to ensure both the question and the course category have IDs. Please see the documentation at https://github.com/moodleou/moodle-filter_embedquestion/blob/main/internaldoc/functionality.txt

  The recent message reporting the same issue as Isaac seems to have since been deleted (but mentioning M3.11.5). Nonetheless, we updated our Test Server to that version, but could not replicate the "This question may not be embedded here" message on Page, Label etc. (using T/F, Multiple Choice etc.). Unfortunately if we cannot replicate, (assuming it is an issue with the plug-in) we can't work out the problem

  A great plugin, I have been waiting for something like this for a long time. However, we are working in teams on a common structured question bank. This is created in the context of the system. (Something cross-instance would be even better.) Unfortunately, the plugin seems so limited that these questions cannot be used. Also, since the question collection does not support symbolic links, we would need to duplicate the questions into the context of the course. A request that is met with disapproval here. Is there any further development to a truly compatible use or possibly a workaround?

  Uwe, yes the way the plugin currently works is limited, for simplicity, and becuase it is always simple to start by building something small, and then expand it later.
  
  Currently, changed are being worked on in Moodle core, about how the question bank is organised: MDL-71378. Once those are implemented, we will need to update this plugin, and at that point, you will probably get the extra flexability you need.

  Speaking of Moodle core changes, will a version of the filter for Tiny be developed ahead of the Atto deprecation? Appreciate this is in a few versions time but keen to know what's ahead in case it may not be replaced.

  In the worst case, a TinyMCE button will be developed just before we need it ourselves at the Open University. Hopefully we will get there than that, before people in the community need it, but it depends what else we have to do.
  
  Also, if we are too busy with other work, then you are not completely stuck. This is a small plugin (most of the logic is in the filter), and anyone else could have a go at converting it. Anyone wants to try, please talk to me.

  I installed the "Embed question atto button" plugin on a Moodle 4.1 site, but the "Embed question" button does not appear in the Atto editor menu. What could I have forgotten to do?

  For some reason we have never made the install automatically add the toolbar button to the Atto editor config. That might be because we did not want to risk messing up people's editor settings, if we got it wrong, or it might just be that we never got around to it.
  
  Anyway, for now it needs to be configured manually. That information is burried in the install instructions: https://github.com/moodleou/moodle-filter_embedquestion/blob/main/internaldoc/functionality.txt.
  
  If you know another atto plugin which automates this, from which we could 'borrow the code' pleaes let us know (or send a pull request if you like!) Thanks.

  Hi @Michael,
  The OU has started planning our move from Atto to Tiny for next year. We're starting to convert our buttons over. Hopefully we'll be able to release a Tiny version of this button in a couple of months.
