thank you

all file sizes were 0 at /temp/backup/

there are 47 of these files

all have names similar to this 7603ee574316f7a6923341328d9f291e.log

Will folow the rest of your instructions and post an update.

this morning's numbers

In total 95% of the disk space is being used, we have 84GB in total space, moodle using:

moodledata 70 GB  -- too high?

moodle 133 MB

note: We were at 80% disk usage for a while, it was stable, and then it spiked to 99% that's when i created this discussion thread.. Yesterday i moved out files from the trashdir, this morning we are at 95% usage about 4GB of free disk space

within moodledate:

filedir size is 58 GB

temp size is 12GB  -- high?

trashdir 4 KB  -- did not grow over night smile   in fact,  i had left some folders in there and over night it was cleaned up/emptied and no new files/folders were added.

within temp, the largest files are:

dowload 160 MB

bbquiz_import 228 kB

questionimport 272 KB

backup 28 KB

Aparently the problem wasnt a 100% in the trashdir, as it is empty now and we are stil at 95% disk usage.  Maybe another file is too large, still.  Maybe this is normal growth and we should add more disk space. It's an OpenSUSE, a virtual machine so hopefully adding space is easy.

Why did trashdir grow one night, then empty the next night?

Do these sizes look normal or is there something too large?

thanks again!!

update:

I moved the files out of the trashdir to my computer's hard disk.

Will see if the trashdir fills up again tonight

Also, we did get a couple emails from moodle in the morning today

If emails were sent out the cron must have been running

Here's one of the emails

Subject: EPHS Moodle 2: [ERROR] Automated backup status

Importance: High

Summary

==================================================

  Courses: 348

  OK: 272

  Skipped: 6

  Error: 50

  Unfinished: 20

  Warning: 0

Some of your courses weren't saved!!

Overnight the disk is 99% used up by moodle.

No backups where scheduled to run.

The root file system has 84 GB of space

Of that
77 GB is used by Moodle

Of that
72 GB are in the ephs-moodledata directory

Of that
58 GB are in the filedir directory and
14 GB in the trash directory

I am a Linux newbie.

Where can I pull up cron history to see what ran and what the results were, did the cleanup run, did a backup run etc?

Is it safe to delete everything in the trashdir folder?

Moodle 2.3.3+ (Build: 20121220)

Thanks
