Moodle in English -> Lounge -> Navigation? -> Re: Navigation?

by Glenys Hanson -

Hi Sarah,

Having read this discussion, I think I understand what you want to do: you want to direct students to a teacher's profile (in Moodle-speak). Teacher's don't have "homepages" in Moodle-speak. The Moodle site is basically constructed like this:

  • Site (sometimes called Platform)
  • Categories (optional)
  • Subcategories (optional)
  • Courses

Teachers and Students are allocated to Courses.

Each User (Admin, Teacher, Student and other Roles) has a Profile.

Profiles are not visible to Guests (for security reasons) unless the Admin has modified the Permissions.

(All the words with a capital letter have special meanings in Moodle-speak.)

If you want prospective students (Guests) to know something about their future teachers your could provide this on the homepage of the Moodle site on or a copy of the course that is open to Guests (with just the elements you want Guests to see).

HTH,

Glenys

Hi Tim,

As far as I know, it's always been that way: you have to log on to read attachments - a security measure, I presume.  Maybe you had a customisation that made things work differently on your site?

Sorry, JaapJan - I see you've already participated in the How to hide score in OK box of JQuiz discussion.

I'm soon going to be going through all my old exercise and updating them. For some I feel feedback in pop up-boxes (or more discreetly in the instruction area) are pedagogically useful and for others not. Also for learning exercises, students should be able to find the score if they really want at the end, but that it shouldn't be "shoved in their faces".

Cheers,

Glenys

Hi JaapJan,

No, there's no problem about not having the score shown after each answer - the final score will go to the gradebook.

But I don't know how to show feedback but not the final score at the end of the exercise. I too would like scoring to be controlled completely separately from feedback.

Maybe this discussion will help: How to hide score in OK box of JQuiz

Or perhaps Gordon knows - he usually does. smile

Sorry I can't be more useful.

Cheers,

Glenys
